Council of Divine [3]

"Why aren't other parasites here?!" Chrunus spoke with malice lining his words.

"My Lord, they are still busy with duties you had assigned them." The goddess of Nature spoke.

Chrunus let out a low rumble.

"No matter, I have gathered you useless gnats here so that you may prove to at least have some use to me!" Chrunus spoke loudly, his voice echoing.

His words caused all 3 present lesser gods to wince in anger before surprising it.

They couldn't do anything to Chrunus. If they dared speak against god of Chaos he would have ended them on the spot.

Despite being gods, they were at his mercy.

He took their worshippers, leaving them with limited well of power.

Not only that, Chrunus also had the ability to erase them from existence itself.

They hated him, they were gods. They were supposed to be at the apex and yet one of their own stood above them all.

Chrunus used to be strong but not nearly enough to handle them and yet now he stood at the pinnacle of power nobody could even comprehend.

"Lord Chrunus, what do you require of us?" Goddess of Nature spoke with disdain.

"I want you to descend upon the world and eliminate dangerous demi-humans." Chrunus spoke casually, however the words made present gods wince in surprise.

"WHAT?! No. We will die if we start fighting in the mortal world!" Goddess spoke with voice filled with fear.

Chrunus turned his gaze directly into her, "Did I allow you to decline me?" His gaze hurt, it was like a drill through the heart.

She fell to her knees, her hands gripped her chest as she struggled to breathe.

"You live by MY will. You will do as I say." Chrunus spoke heavily, dark mist erupting from his form.

The weight finally lifted from the goddess. She stared at the chalky white ground as she breathed heavily.

"I... understand Lord Chrunus..." She spoke as she caught her breath.

Fortuna and god of magic stared at the collapsed goddess with compassion and pity.

"Good. Other gods' absence has been noted, they will be punished." With those words Chrunus disappeared in a cloud of dark mist.

His presence finally lifted from the Land of Chalk.

Leaving Fortuna alone with two gods.

Fortuna let go of her facade as she rushed to the goddess of nature.

"Natura! Are you alright!" Fortuna lifted her dress as she rushed to the side of the collapsed goddess.

Natura averted her gaze as she lifted herself up, clearly trying to keep some dignity.

"How long will we have to keep serving that imbecile?!" God of Magic shouted, aura flaring.

"Calm down, You mustn't exhaust your energy, Payne." Fortuna urged him as she rose to her feet.

"We may have a way out..." She spoke softly, almost in a whisper.

Natura looked at her with confusion. How couldn't she after all they were all at mercy of Chrunus, and no other god could even hold a candle to him.

That was until Fortuna conjured her orb.

"Unknown gods appeared." She stated bluntly as the orb rippled before conjuring image of the White winged demi humans.

"Those are just mortals..." Payne spoke.

Fortuna smiled, "No, look at this one..." The orb zoomed and focused on a silver-haired child who obliterated cities with ease.

"This being here... Is called Ariel. She is on par with me on strength and yet she can exist within the mortal world without limits." She spoke with astonishment, a small trail of drool escaping her as she observed Ariel.

"On par with you, Fortuna?" Natura asked with a confused look on her face as she approached the orb with a hopeful look.

"Yes, and 3 others that are with her are about as strong as you are right now. Without any limits." She smiled wryly.

Payne and Natura looked at the orb with astonishment.

"So... Fortuna... Are you saying we may escape the chain of Chrunus? But these beings are not enough..." Natura asked, her voice trembling.

With a hopeful voice she spoke, "That is the thing! Ariel has a Patron! There is a god capable of powering beings on my level of me without any worshippers!"

The deadpan expressions of Natura and Payne spoke volumes.

'I wouldn't be surprised if they thought I was lying.' She sighed.

"The entity I am referring to is named Cedric. I was not able to peer into this being nor locate it. However, if we make contact with Ariel, we might be able to converse and perhaps establish an alliance."

"If Cedric is as powerful as you say he is, what would prevent him from just taking over the spot of Chrunus? We would trade one tyrant for another."

"It is a risk we must take, my dears, we are basically slaves now! We need to risk everything to free ourselves!" She exclaimed.

Natura scratched her chin before agreeing, "Fortuna, you are right. This might be the only opportunity we will have. I will notify all other gods about this!"

Payne followed closely after, "What if Cedric is hostile to us?"

"I want to establish good relationship with Ariel, If that is possible we might be able to approach Cedric safely!" Fortuna spoke with a bright smile.

"I will trust you, Fortuna. I am sick of being forced to kneel to that tyrannical imbecile." Natura scoffed.

She had every right to be angry. ever since Chrunus had taken over the divine realm her beautiful forests turned into wastelands of chalk.

Tyrant had ruined everything, he had stolen her domain, her worshippers, her power.

All gods felt the same. Nobody was truly loyal to Chrunus, for he was a tyrant who treated them like trash despite once being equals.

'Why did he have to gain such immense power of all the gods, if Fortuna had gained them instead, they would have been prospering, and yet world had decided Chrunus was the one who would gain most absolute power.' Natura lamented the world's cruelty as she disappeared in a golden flash.
