Ch 40: Walk around and calm down - Part 2

Elias kept his expression neutral as he walked down the grand corridors of the Imperial Palace, the ornate halls as familiar to him as the back of his hand.

The memories of his childhood days spent running through these very corridors were vivid in his mind, but he dared not voice them. It would only raise questions he wasn't ready to answer.

Instead, he focused on the guard walking beside him, Henry Connor—a lanky, unimpressive young man with a perpetual scowl etched across his face.

The third son of the influential Connor family, Henry clearly believed that his position as a palace guard was a birthright, not something earned through merit.

As they walked, Henry dragged his feet lazily, his sword clanking noisily against his belt. His posture was relaxed to the point of disrespect, and the way he glanced at Elias—disdainful and irritated—made it clear that he had no interest in this assignment.
