During the War
Marcus moved cautiously through the battlefield, scanning the area for any sign of Moonlight. His gut told him something was off.
"Where is she? It's strange for her to disappear like this..."
His thoughts were interrupted by the sight of multiple saviors being flung through the air, their bodies battered and barely holding on. His eyes widened.
"Oh, don't tell me..."
A sinister presence filled the air. From the dust and destruction emerged Tetrada, her purple wings radiating a burning, poisonous glow. Her long purple hair flowed menacingly, and her cruel smirk sent a shiver down Marcus's spine.
"Well, well," Tetrada purred, her tone dripping with amusement. "You're the one I poisoned so heavily before. How's that been treating you?" She tilted her head mockingly. "Not that it matters—because I'm about to kill you anyway."
Marcus squared his stance, his gaze cold and unyielding.
"No time for words."
"Bring it on."
Tetrada instantly launched a barrage of poison daggers, each one laced with a deadly toxin. Marcus swiftly dodged them, closing the distance in an instant. His fist connected with her face, sending her crashing into the ground.
Tetrada wiped the blood from her lip and grinned. "I hope you realize... killing me is pointless."
"Pointless or not, I'm doing this to survive."
Tetrada teleported in front of him, aiming a vicious kick to his gut. Marcus dodged and countered with a series of rapid strikes, but Tetrada avoided them all with unnatural agility. In a flash, her claws sliced into his leg, injecting poison directly into his bloodstream.
Marcus stumbled, a sharp pain spreading through his body.
"Shit... my magic is— disabled!"
Tetrada's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "Now's my chance to end you!" She raised her claws, aiming for his throat—
CLANG!
A sword blocked the strike, sending sparks flying.
Tetrada's eyes flickered with irritation. "You again?"
Standing before her was Yaxocara, blade in hand, her glare sharp enough to cut through steel.
"Just how dumb are you?" Yaxocara scoffed. "Still refusing to die, huh?"
Without hesitation, Yaxocara slashed, severing both of Tetrada's arms in a blink. Before Tetrada could react, a devastating kick sent her flying.
Tetrada gritted her teeth, her arms regenerating in seconds. "Tch... that must be Yaxoc's twin." She clenched her fists. "Why the hell do you keep interfering in my fights?"
Yaxocara shrugged. "It's called assistance, dumbass."
Tetrada's eye twitched. "He doesn't need assistance!"
"And I don't care!" Yaxocara snapped. "You're gonna fight me, whether you like it or not!"
Yaxocara lunged forward, her sword flashing in rapid arcs. Tetrada barely dodged, her mind racing.
"Her speed... it's faster than Sodo's."
A sharp punch to the gut sent Tetrada reeling. Before she could recover, Yaxocara grabbed her hair, yanking her back violently.
"AGH! Let go of my hair!" Tetrada shrieked. "What kind of cheap move is this?!"
Yaxocara smirked. "Oh, what, this bothering you?"
With a wicked grin, she swung Tetrada around by her hair, using her like a living pinball, slamming her repeatedly into the ground.
Marcus, watching the spectacle, shuddered.
"Damn... imagine getting humiliated like this. Note to self—never piss her off on Valentine's Day."
With a final, brutal slash, Yaxocara split Tetrada's skull, erasing her from existence in a burst of energy.
Marcus exhaled, still feeling the poison in his system.
Yaxocara turned to him with a judgmental glare.
"You seriously let yourself get stabbed like that?" she said bluntly.
"Hey, I didn't have time to react!" Marcus shot back defensively.
"Oh, shut up—you're just too slow."
Marcus groaned. "What do you expect me to do, Silver the Hedgehog?"
Yaxocara's face twisted in rage. "Did you just compare me to a hedgehog?!"
Marcus smirked. "I dunno, I think he might be faster."
"You little—"
Before their bickering could escalate, a massive explosion rocked the battlefield.
Both turned toward the source.
"What the hell was that?" Marcus muttered.
Yaxocara's eyes darkened. "Only one way to find out."
The two moved cautiously toward the impact site. The air was thick with ash and blood, the remains of saviors and demons scattered across the ground.
Marcus clenched his fists. "This... this is a death zone."
Yaxocara's gaze sharpened. "That explosion was too recent... someone wiped them out all at once."
A slow, deliberate clap echoed through the ruins.
From the shadows, Yurgion stepped forward, a wicked grin on his face.
"Well, well, well... looks like you two finally noticed the fireworks," he said mockingly.
Marcus scowled. "So, it was you?"
Yurgion smirked. "Of course. The saviors and demons? They were in my way."
Yaxocara crossed her arms. "You don't even care about your own allies?"
Yurgion chuckled. "I don't give a damn about them."
Yaxocara narrowed her eyes. "Yeah, I kinda forgot—you only care about yourself."
Yurgion tilted his head. "Oh, right. Speaking of things I don't care about..."
He reached into his cloak—
And pulled out two severed tails.
Marcus and Yaxocara's blood ran cold.
Their eyes widened in horror.
"Don't tell me..." Yaxocara whispered.
Yurgion smirked. "Oh, but I will." He tossed the tails at their feet. "Moonlight and Luna are dead."
Marcus's entire body froze. His hands trembled. His vision blurred with rage.
Yurgion's smirk widened. "That's unfortunate for you, Marcus. But hey, I made sure they didn't suffer too much—"
A shockwave erupted from Marcus as he stepped forward, fists clenched so tight his nails dug into his palms.
But before he could charge—
A spear flew toward him at lightning speed.
Yaxocara reacted instantly, shoving Marcus aside.
The spear pierced her arm, blood spraying onto the ground.
"Damn it!" she hissed. "This guy is a real pain in the ass!"
She gritted her teeth, turning to Marcus. "We need to run—NOW!"
Marcus hesitated for a moment, but then nodded. They turned and sprinted away at full speed.
Yurg
ion scoffed. "Cowards—"
He suddenly stiffened.
An eerie presence loomed behind him.
A slow breath.
A whisper of movement.
And then—
TO BE CONTINUED.
