"Carter, what are you saying? Aren't we in love with each other?"
Carter's wife stared at him in disbelief, her faith seemingly shattered.
"You said that as soon as you had enough money, you'd take us, mother and child, and we'd run away together."
So his wife had already planned their future, but it was hers and Carter's.
"You old hag, it's all your fault. You stole my Carter from me."
"We were truly in love, and you ruined everything."
"I'll fight you to the death."
With that, his wife lunged at Aria again, only to be quickly pushed to the ground.
Aria's bodyguards wouldn't let her get close; they weren't pushovers, after all.
"Well, well, looks like I'm the one who broke you two up."
Aria's tone was full of amusement, but her nose was cold.
She kicked Carter with her foot. Although he furrowed his brow, he didn't make a sound.
"Does it hurt, Carter?"
"It doesn't hurt, darling. When you kick me, it's out of love. How could I possibly feel pain?""
