Chapter 47: Banquet

A few days have passed since that warning. Selina enjoyed her break and happily lazed around with her brother. Somehow, she kept coincidentally meeting Reinhart whenever she went out. Didn't Reinhart have a job to do or something? Or maybe she was also taking a break.

As much as Selina wanted to ignore her problems, she couldn't exactly do so due to a certain entity who would probably bother her, but she has time. It seems that she has to actually tackle Amelia's weird past and figure out the secrets that revolve around her. Man, why does she have to solve someone else's problems for them?! Bullshit.

Selina not-so-peacefully fell asleep. She woke up and did her morning routine per usual. Then, she headed to the courtyard to train. She wasn't ecstatic about it but knew that she had to get stronger to deal with unwanted issues. Plus, she'll see her knight in shining armor~

Selina snuck her way to the training grounds and because she hadn't been there in a while, Reinhart wasn't looking for her. This was the perfect opportunity for a sneak attack!

The knight's back was turned, her head turned up to drink from the water bottle, sweat dripping down her face. Selina flew towards her direction and whispered into her ear

"Boo!" Her tone of voice wasn't threatening at all. It was pleasant and airy, like a light scratch to Reinhart's ear.

The hot breath tickling her ear in such close proximity startled Reinhart. The bottle in her hand shook greatly while she choked on the liquid slightly.

"Are you okay?!" Reinhart's reaction was greater than Selina had thought. She patted Reinhart's back gently.

"I'm alright. Don't do that next time." She reprimanded.

"Sorry! I didn't expect your ears to be so sensitive." Selina was genuinely apologetic, her eyes lingering on the red earlobe of her knight.

"I'm not sensitive! I merely didn't anticipate your presence. Why did you grace us today, my lady?" Reinhart shifted the topic smoothly.

Selina who was unaware simply answered.

"I was feeling a bit too lazy lately. I wanted to sharpen up my skills."

"Will you watch over me as usual miss commander?"

"Of course. Get to work." Reinhart crossed her arms, immediately switching to her work mode; a mode Selina was all too familiar with.

"Aye aye captain!" Selina started her laps around the courtyard.

Though, only after an hour, both Selina and Reinhart were called to Troye's office.

Oh and, Michael was there too for some reason.

Seeing the two people arriving, Michael awkwardly waved his hand.

"Hi?"

Reinhart stared at him coldly, not bothering to return the sentiment while Selina waved back before promptly ignoring him.

"Did you need something your grace?" Selina broke the silence.

Troye didn't answer her and instead turned to Reinhart.

"How are the preparations for the banquet going?" He calmly asked.

Truth be told, Reinhart had no idea how the plans were going. She spent her days moving around to find her lady and spend time with her. She pushed the banquet problems to her comrades and the many servants of the manor.

"I haven't been overseeing the preparations. The battle was won because of my knights so I wanted to give them the freedom to due fit with the party. Although I have trust in their capabilities, the head maid and butler are also helping out to maintain the Amister standard."

"As long as it maintains the status quo. We must strike when the conquest in still fresh in the minds of the capital, especially the emperor." Troye didn't care much. Every party hosted by the Amister's was just a way to show off their wealth and power. It didn't matter how it looked, as long as money was spent and noticeable.

While one blue and one red were discussing important matters, Selina snuck off to the side to chat with Michael who was still confused on why he was there.

"So, it seems as if there will be a party soon." Michael whispers.

"Really? I couldn't tell" Selina's sarcasm was overflowing. Michael flicked her forehead lightly.

"Ahem, this will probably be your first introduction to high society" Selina rubbed her forehead gently.

"Not looking forward to it. Most nobles are snotty, arrogant losers. I'll just sit in a corner quietly."

"As long as you hang around me, it'll never be quiet. Plus, with your good looks, even if you remain quiet, someone will notice and poke at your non-existing background."

The continued chatting until their presence was finally noticed.
