Chapter 71

 Ivonne's POV

"Why did you stop?" Tobias's voice interrogated, his breath fanning my neck as his front pressed to my back due to my abrupt halt.

For a moment I got distracted but cursed myself for letting that happen at such a critical time. My mother's hospital room was empty with the bed properly made as if no one had slept on it the previous night.

A thin hand of fear began to curl around my neck as my heart which fell to my belly accelerated at the worst case scenario which was nothing else aside from her death.

'Breath Ivonne,' Ria my wolf cautioned in my head as images flashed through my mind.

"Why is the room empty?" Tobias asked as he peered over my shoulder and I could sense the frown on his face even if I couldn't see him.

"Tobias," I called in a hoarse tone, the strength I came with leaving me as the seconds ticked by and the room remained empty with the bed the way it was.
