Black Hole

As I ran out of the room to look for the cockroach that had just left, there was nothing. I saw nothing. There was complete darkness, due to the power cut. I kept looking for him wherever I could, I couldn't see anything because of the darkness and my phone was broken due to me throwing it in frustration earlier, so I couldn't use a torch either.

"Damnit where must he be. He couldn't have gone that far", I think to myself as I run around my house looking for him. I look under the couch, under my bed, under my mom's bed, under many tables, under many chairs, under many plates, bowls, pans and glasses, in corners, inside holes, behind doors, under my clothes, under my mom's clothes, inside my bag, inside lamps, inside the microwave, under the washing machine, under the gas, inside almirahs, in other balconies. I searched almost every corner of my house yet he was nowhere to be found.

"Damnit damnit damnit DAMNIT DAMNIT, WHERE IS HE?", I get very frustrated and sit down on the couch, holding my head in frustration, trying to take a deep breath, wondering what I should do next. Where should I find him?. I think for a while more and then make the decision to look for him outside.

"He couldn't have gone much further in the storm and it might be possible for me to look for him in corners and alleyways", I think to myself as I wear my raincoat, grab my umbrella and head out, putting myself in danger. The roads were completely dark as the wind was blowing through me with an immense speed. It was raining so heavily that even an umbrella and a raincoat couldn't help me from getting wet. I put my hand in front of my eyes to be able to properly see through the rain. The fast wind was almost blowing my clothes away. I keep trying to walk through the road but the slippery floor and the fast wind makes it incredibly difficult to do so. I try my best to keep looking at the ground, so that, I could perhaps spot him, but it was so dark that I couldn't see much.

"Damnit, at this rate, he'll die, or he might have died already", I grit my teeth in annoyance and concern, the stress of wanting to find him but being unable to do so starts weighing on my head.

All of a sudden, my umbrella gets blown off by the force of wind and I fall down.

"GYAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH", I scream as my head hits the floor. I hold my head with my hand as it hurts from the impact of the fall. I then take a deep breath and lie down for a while. Looking up at the sky. The raindrops, falling on my face and my body. My raincoat was completely wet as my face and hair were too. I kept lying there for a while with a tired and resigned expression on my face. I sigh in resignation and think to myself.

"Perhaps I should just go home, I clearly won't be able to find him like this. Maybe I should try the next day, in the morning. Yeah it'll be easier that way", I think to myself and then slowly get up, using the force of my hands by keeping them on the floor. I then see a railing in the corner and grab it with my hands, using it to fully lift myself up. I manage to finally stand up. I use the railing to walk ahead as the force of the wind is still too strong for me to walk properly without any support. I walked for a while keeping one of my eyes closed due to the impact of the rain, I then saw an alley way. I entered it.

"Finally a lead, there are usually a lot of cockroaches around here in that area, I might be able to find him here", I think to myself as I look around, in the corner, inside the dustbins, under the dustbins, I peek down to get a glance at the holes, I open all the dustbins and start throwing all the trash out, I carefully examine every piece of trash hoping to find something, but much to my disappointment, I find nothing. I get very exhausted. I threw the junk I had in my hand down in frustration. I stand there for a moment, unsure of what to do, every lead I find keeps ending up in failure.

"Damnit damnit DAMNIT WHY CAN'T I FIND HIM?", I grit my teeth in anger so hard that blood comes out of my mouth, as I punch the wall. I feel the blood dripping down from my mouth.

"GAAAAHHHH", I wipe it out in annoyance, a defeated look on my face. I look up at the sky with a pained expression as raindrops fall on my face, wondering if I should really give up on him. I was so tired that I just wanted to go home and fall down to my bed, then sleep for 17 hours straight. The whole day had been nothing short of a nightmare, I had started the day itself very exhausted and in a bad mood, then the terrible incident at the restaurant and now the appearance and disappearance of the cockroach. I was so tired, I just wanted a break. But then I remembered the resolve I made to make my life better. I gained a little composure, my hands start fidgeting as I tightly enclose them in determination.

"No. That's not right. I can't give up on him. I- I must-

As soon as I mutter that sentence to myself, I see a cockroach-like figure at the corner in the distance. My eyes widened in surprise but then my expression turned to one of joy and relief.

"Did I finally find him?", I thought to myself as I rushed to the figure, making sure it doesn't escape.

"Hey! Stop right there! You wanted to speak with me right?", I scream at the figure as I approach it, however as soon as I get closer, I stop. It wasn't just a figure of a cockroach. There were multiple cockroaches. Possible about 30+. My eyes widen in shock.

"W- what the hell? How am I supposed to find him among so many of them", I look around at them, trying to spot which one of them was the one I was looking for.

"Hey! It's me Krishnamrit! We share the same name right! You said you feel lonely?! You said you hate humans?! You made a remake about my loneliness?! We can talk! I want to talk now please respond!", I scream at the cockroaches in a desperate voice. Lightning cracks in the sky and all of them start running around out of fear, trying to survive. Some of them start climbing up my legs.

"GA AAHHHh", I immediately pushed them off of me, disgusted by the cockroaches. I then look at the ones running around in the distance and then scream again.

"WHY WON'T YOU RESPOND TO ME?", I shout, in a last desperate attempt as I see the cockroaches running away. I look down and sigh in defeat. I start walking back home, a sad, exhausted and resigned expression on my face. I walked back to my house, the streets were empty, as it was raining. There was no one around me. I kept walking while looking down as it was raining heavily, the wind blowing past me. I walk for a long time and then finally manage to reach home. I sigh and open the door, I then close it shut. Locking the door. I fell down to my knees as I was so tired at this point I couldn't even walk. I slowly take off my shoes and socks. I then wear my slippers and start walking back to my room, not even having enough energy to change my clothes. I slowly walk up the stairs, tightly holding on to the railing to keep me standing. I finally reached my room. I opened the door and as soon as I entered it, I felt something crack and squish below my feet.

"Huh", I mutter to myself as I look down and remove my feet to see what that sound was. As soon as I remove my feet and see what it was, my jaw drops and my eyes widen in shock. I saw the cockroach. suffocating to death. I had crushed him. Seems like he didn't leave and had just hid in the room in the corner.

"NO", I scream in shock and despair as I immediately grab him and put in on my palm.

"N- no this can't be-

"H- hey r- respond to me, n- no you can't be dead", I rub his small arms. He doesn't move. He just lays lifeless on my palm. My eyes get teary as I scream again.

"H- HEY SPEAK TO ME!!! YOU WANTED TALK RIGHT?!!! WHY AREN'T YOU SPEAKING NOW?!!! I'M HERE!!!!! I'M LISTENING!!!!!!", I scream and burst into tears, holding his lifeless body in the palm of my hand as the realisation sets in that he really is dead.

Lightning cracks from the sky as I kept crying while holding his lifeless body. My tears falling on top of him. I cried as I realised I had seen him before many times in my life. He was present every moment. I cried as I remembered feeling wind blown at my face every time I had a nightmare, realising it was him. I cried as I remembered all the moments of an annoying cockroach that had appeared and attacked me whenever I tried to choke myself to death. I cried as my attempts of connecting with someone, had yet again, ended in Tragedy.

The End.
