Scarlett curled her lips into a smug smile and loudly said, "Some people are probably stuck in their little corner their whole life, never been anywhere."
I kept a polite smile on my face, responding without losing my composure, "Ms. Buckley, you're the daughter of an Alpha. I'm sure you've seen a lot. I truly admire that."
But Scarlett wasn't ready to let it go. She stepped closer to me, lowering her voice but still making sure others could hear. "Humph, so you're backing down now? Only talk but never act? You've got no guts."
I clenched my clothes, silently reminding myself to stay calm, and quietly replied, "I'm just being honest. I don't want to argue with you."
Scarlett seemed to think she had found the perfect moment to show off. She lifted her chin and proudly declared, "I've been everywhere like London's Big Ben, New York's Times Square... I've seen it. I even speak eight languages. Not everyone can do that."
