Chapter 9: Summoned

I heard what I heard and saw what I did, and I still had difficulty believing it.

What was happening?

I tried to make sense of it. Why would Justin pay my tuition? There had to be a mistake.

Wait, back up. What were the facts? I knew my dad’s last will named Justin my guardian. I knew the will left all the money to him, and he was named my guardian because I was a minor. I knew he worked at Waterfall as a professor and took first-year Jurisprudence. I knew he didn’t want to part with the money. I knew that was the motive for my parents' murder.

Okay, wait.

“Let me try adding my student debit card for future payments. Would that be possible?”

“Let me check,”

Typed, clicked, typed, clicked. “Well, does your card end in 8191?”

I looked at the card. “Yes…”

“Well, that’s already been linked to your tuition payments.”

“What?”

“Yes, for all future payments,”

I thought about it for a second. “Is that something done by default by the college?”
