Chapter 10: Fire at My Fingertips

I dropped my bag as soon as I got back home. Sometimes, I still couldn’t believe I was an active part of this company. Hopefully, we can get more hires soon to lighten my workload.

I was too exhausted to even make it to my bedroom. My feet were sore from the new heels I had bought, and I couldn’t even think about going up the stairs. I sat down on the loveseat in the sitting room by the front door.

I groaned when my cell phone rang, muttering under my breath that it had better not be a work call.

I blinked in surprise to find Daniel, my brother’s good friend, was the one calling.

“Hey, Vivi,” Daniel said, his tone upbeat and teasing as he used my nickname. “I saw that your name wasn’t on the list for the cruise this weekend. Did you want me to add it?”

I flinched. I normally loved cruises, but since Byron and the diva were going, I figured it best to sit this out. “Thanks, but no thanks. It’s not a mistake. I just decided not to go this weekend.”
