I was feeling shaky from the incident with Leo. I found that I wasn’t looking forward to going back to my room alone, but I had no choice. I wasn’t going to stay with someone else or ask someone to stay with me. I wasn’t going to show that kind of weakness.
“Take care of yourself,” the doctor warned as Daemon and I prepared to leave. He eyed me sternly. “Be sure to get plenty of rest tonight. You seem to be experiencing a bit of shock.”
I offered him a tentative smile. “I’ll be fine,” I said, sounding brave and strong. I bowed my head in gratitude. “Thank you for patching me up. I’m sorry you had to answer a call so late because of me.”
He shook his head. “No need to apologize,” he said with a wave of his hand. “I was happy to do it. Let’s try not to get hurt during the remainder of this voyage though, alright? Your brother will not be a happy camper if you are harmed again.”
I promised to be careful from now on and left with Daemon following closely behind me.
