I stood frozen in front of Ethan, not sure what to say. I had no words for his cryptic response to seeing me. He didn’t seem like he expected an answer, but he continued to look up at me, his eyes flashing dangerously.
“Wouldn’t you like to know what I’ve been up to recently?” he asked.
I was tempted to say no, but he seemed a little on edge, and the last thing I wanted to do was provoke him. We might have been in the company lobby, but I wouldn’t put it past him to try something.
So, I stayed silent, just watching him warily. I kept my head high, not wanting him to think I feared him.
Ethan waited a beat. His eyebrow raised before he decided to enlighten me. “I’ve been swamped with work for a long time now. All this time, I’ve been waiting until one of my employees decided to come up to me and told me that I shouldn’t waste my time.”
He was speaking so cryptically that I had no choice but to ask. “Waste your time on what?”
