The urban legend of The Handless Ghost is actually a tale that has circulated in various forms across different regions.

But one of the most notable versions originates from Britain, specifically in parts of England and Wales. 

This figure is said to be the restless spirit of a woman or man who died in an accident which resulted in the severing of their hands. 

The ghost now roams the countryside or dark roads, appearing to travelers with bloodied stumps where hands once were.

One popular version tells of a woman who was brutally attacked and had her hands cut off before being left to die. 

Another tale speaks of a railway worker who lost both hands in a train accident. 

In both cases, their spirits were unable to rest, forever seeking their lost limbs or revenge against the living.

They say you would see a shadow like figure along deserted paths and hear its moaning voice calling for help. 

Then as you approach, you'll see the horrifying sight – the ghost holding out its mutilated arms, dripping with fresh blood, before vanishing into the night. 

Some claim the ghost will grab at travelers with its stump-like arms, leaving strange marks on their skin. 

Those who see it often speak of bad luck or misfortune soon after.
