MELON HEADS

ORIGIN: United States

The urban legend of the Melon Heads has circulated in several regions of the United States, most especially, in Ohio, Michigan, and Connecticut.

These small, human like creatures have oversized, bulbous heads and disfigured faces.

Their origins vary depending on the location, but the stories share a common thread of medical experiments, tragedy, and revenge.

In Ohio, the Melon Heads are believed to be the result of children suffering from hydrocephalus, a condition causing fluid buildup in the brain, which led to their enlarged heads.

Legend claims that they were held captive in an asylum where a cruel doctor, named Dr. Crow, performed awful experiments on them.

Eventually, the children escaped, killing the doctor and setting the facility on fire before going into the nearby woods.

Another version of the legend talks about a group of inbred individuals who lived in the woods near Fairfield County.

Generations of isolation from the outside world led to them having lots of physical deformities and violent tendencies.

They are said to emerge from the forest at night, attacking travelers or those who wander too close to their territory.

Sightings of the Melon Heads continue, with locals warning that driving down remote roads, like Dracula Drive in Connecticut, could result in a horrible encounter.
