ANNABELLE, THE HAUNTED DOLL

ORIGIN: Paranormal folklore.

The urban legend of Annabelle, is one of the most well-known stories in paranormal folklore with movies and Tv shows retelling the story.

Originating in the 1970s, Annabelle's tale was popularized by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, whose work inspired The Conjuring film series.

However, the true story differs from the Hollywood version, making the legend all the more…

Scarier.

According to the Warrens, Annabelle was a raggedy Ann doll, given to a young nursing student named Donna as a gift.

Soon after receiving the doll, Donna and her roommate began noticing strange things.

The doll seemed to keep moving on its own, changing positions when left alone for a while.

Sometimes, it would be found in entirely different rooms.

They also found handwritten messages scrawled on parchment paper, reading phrases like "Help me," though they had no such paper type in their apartment.

As the strange activities became worse, the doll reportedly started having evil and cunning behaviors of its own.

A friend of the roommates, Lou, claimed to have been physically attacked, waking up with deep scratches across his chest.

Frightened, Donna sought help, leading her to the Warrens.

They determined that the doll was not possessed by a child's spirit, as was believed at first but was instead a conduit (host) for a demonic entity who was looking for a human soul to claim.

Fearing of the doll's potential danger, the Warrens took Annabelle into their possession, placing it in a glass case within their Occult Museum.

To this day, the case is sealed with a warning: "Positively Do Not Open."

Visitors always said they had an uneasy feeling when standing in front of the doll's glass case;

And some have experienced misfortune after mocking her.

The legend of Annabelle is a reminder that evil can sometimes hide behind the most innocent of faces.
