LALAURIE MANSION

ORIGIN: United States

The LaLaurie Mansion in New Orleans, Louisiana, is one of the most infamous haunted locations in the United States.

Its legend is filled in horror, cruelty, and relentless spirits.

The mansion was built in the early 1800s, and was home to Delphine LaLaurie, a wealthy socialite known publicly for her charm and status.

However, behind closed doors, she was a far more darker personality.

The urban legend surrounding the mansion began after a fire in 1834, which led to the discovery of many unspeakable atrocities.

When rescuers entered the mansion, they stumbled upon a hidden torture chamber in the attic.

There, they found many enslaved people chained, mutilated, and subjected to painful, disgusting experiments.

All the victims had their limbs stretched to the very limit, their were bones broken and reset in an unnaturally structure and joint.

And…

Some were found with their mouths sewn shut with threads.

The amount of cruelty was beyond understanding.

After the truth was surfaced, a mob stormed the mansion but Delphine LaLaurie fled to Paris, escaping justice.

Since then, the mansion is said to be cursed.

Visitors talk about hearing anguished cries, chains dragging across the floors, and ghostly apparitions wandering the halls.

Some claim to see shadowy figures in the windows.

All of these are now believed to be the tormented souls of LaLaurie's victims, forever trapped in their house of horrors.
