PUKIS

ORIGIN: Indonesian folklore.

The Pukis is a lesser-known but very feared supernatural entity in rural and remote areas.

It is a mischievous and wrecking spirit associated with wealth, greed, and dark magic.

The legend of the Pukis is linked to the practice of pesugihan, a type of black magic ritual performed by people who want fast instant riches.

A person who wishes to gain great wealth may summon the Pukis through a secret and dangerous ritual.

Once summoned, the Pukis becomes a servant to its master, bringing money, gold, and prosperity seemingly out of nowhere.

However, this wealth comes at a terrible price.

The Pukis demands human lives.

Some versions of the legend say that the spirit requires sacrifices every now and then, and the human sacrifices must be…

… From the summoner's own family members.

If these sacrifices aren't brought, the Pukis will turn against its master, bringing ruin and death.

The Pukis is invisible to most people, but the few that were— should I say 'lucky' to see it, say that it is a very small creature with glowing red eyes.
