VAMPIRE OF CROGLIN GRANGE

ORIGIN: Cumberland.

The Vampire of Croglin Grange is an English urban legend that dates back to the 19th century.

The story centers on a young woman named Amelia Cranswell, who, along with her brothers, rented a secluded house they named Croglin Grange.

The house was surrounded by vast, open fields and ancient woodlands that gave it a quiet atmosphere.

One warm summer evening, Amelia sat by her window, enjoying the night air, when she noticed a strange person moving through the shadows of the churchyard nearby.

As the 'person' drew closer, she realized that he or she was not walking normally.

Fear squeezed at her lungs as the person approached her window, tapping on the glass with a bony finger and she realised too late that it was not a person.

It was not human at all.

Before she could react, it broke through the glassed window and grabbed her, biting down with its sharp teeth into her neck.

Her screams alerted her brothers in their rooms who then rushed to her aid.

However, creature ran away, fleeing into the night and leaving Amelia weak and bloodied.

To have their revenge, the brothers later tracked the creature to an ancient crypt in the churchyard.

And once they opened a coffin, they found a decayed corpse with fresh blood on its mouth.

They burned the body, believing they had destroyed the vampire.
