THE DEAD CALL AT MIDNIGHT

ORIGIN: UNKNOWN

This legend talks about people receiving phone calls from deceased loved ones, who usually warn them of doom or disaster that is about to happen.

One common version tells of a grieving woman who, after losing her fiancé in an accident, begins receiving calls from his number at midnight.

At first, all she hears is static, but soon, a distorted voice whispers her name.

Scared— as any normal person should be—- she cuts the call but then dismisses it as a prank.

However, each night, the calls come through.

Desperate, she contacts the phone company, only to be told that the number has been disconnected since his death.

One night, the voice finally speaks clearly: "Don't go on the trip tomorrow."

She listens to the warning and cancels her

trip for the next day.

On the news broadcast the next day, she learns that the bus she was supposed to take crashed, killing all passengers in it.

Some versions of the legend say that ignoring the call leads to misfortune or even death.

Unbelievers dismiss it as a coincidence or psychological distress, but believers insist that sometimes, the dead have unfinished business— and they will reach out, even from beyond the grave.
