CHAPTER 187: NIGHT BUS 375

ORIGIN: China

The urban legend of Night Bus 375, also known as the Midnight Bus to Nowhere, is one of China's most scary ghost stories.

The tale is said to have taken place in Beijing on November 14, 1995, with the last bus of the night traveling from Yuanmingyuan Bus Station to Fragrant Hills (Xiangshan).

According to the legend, the bus departed as usual, carrying only a few late-night passengers.

At the next stop, three mysterious men flagged it down and boarded the bus.

Their faces were pale, and they wore Qing Dynasty-era clothing.

One of them seemed to float rather than walk.

Alarmed by this, an old man on the bus started accusing a younger male passenger of stealing his wallet, causing an argument.

Much to his relief, the old man's plan worked; he and the younger male he accused were forced to exit the bus at the next stop.

Once they were off, the old man told the young male that he had only pretended to accuse him because he had noticed that the three passengers had no shadows.

They were not human.

The next day, Bus 375 was found abandoned near a reservoir with no sign of the driver or passengers.

The only clue was that the bus had traveled much farther than its usual route.

Some say it was hijacked by ghosts; others believe that it crossed into another realm.
