CHAPTER 197: SNAKE ISLAND MYSTERY

ORIGIN: Brazil

The Snake Island Mystery refers to the creepy legends surrounding Ilha da Queimada Grande, commonly known as Snake Island, located off the coast of Brazil.

This isolated island is infamous for being home to one of the world's deadliest snake species, the golden lancehead viper (Bothrops insularis).

… Which is so venomous that a single bite can cause rapid tissue destruction, internal bleeding, and death within a few hours.

The island is so dangerous that the Brazilian government has prohibited public access, only allowing select researchers and military personnel to visit.

However, urban legends say that Snake Island is more than just a scientific anomaly—

It is a cursed land with a dark past;

A lighthouse keeper and his family were killed by the snakes after their home was invaded in the dead of night, with no survivors.

Others versions say that pirates once buried treasure on the island and cursed it to be protected by the venomous serpents.

There are also strange accounts of mysterious disappearances, unknown lights, and rumours of hidden secrets beneath the dense jungle.

While much of the legend remains just theories and rumours, the island's deadly reputation makes it one of the most feared and mysterious places on Earth.
