CHAPTER 196: WHISPERING WOMAN OF BOGOTÁ

ORIGIN: Colombia's capital, Bogotá.

The legend speaks of a mysterious female form that appears late at night to those walking alone through the dark streets of La Candelaria, the city's historic district.

She is a ghost dressed in old-fashioned clothing; a long black dress with a shawl covering her head, who approaches people pretending to be lost or in need of help and softly whispering in their ears.

The words she speaks are never fully understood— some say she is asking for help, while others argue that she whispers warnings or secrets from the beyond.

Those who have heard her whispers are said to experience an overwhelming dark feeling, as if something is draining their energy.

Some victims talking about feeling disoriented or being ill and sick after the encounter.

The most terrifying version of the legend says that if one listens too closely to her whispers, they will lose their sanity or vanish without a trace.

Many believe the Whispering Woman is the restless spirit of a betrayed lover or a woman who met a deadly fate in Bogotá's dark past.
