CHAPTER 199: YOWIE

ORIGIN: Australian folklore

The Yowie is, often described as Australia's version of Bigfoot.

It lives in the vast, remote wilderness of Australia, in the dense forests of Queensland and New South Wales.

The Yowie is a massive, ape-like creature that walks on two legs and stands between 6 to 12 feet tall.

Currently, there are so many descriptions of it but it is mostly described as a hairy, muscular beast with large feet, glowing red eyes, and a guttural growl.

Indigenous Australian stories about the Yowie date back thousands of years, with Aboriginal tribes describing similar creatures as ancient, powerful beings that lived in the land long before humans did.

Some versions of the legend say that the are protective spirits, while others talk of their violent and territorial nature.

In the 19th century, European settlers reported several encounters with a "wild man of the bush," which added to the truthfulness of the myth.

Aside from many reported sightings, blurry photos, and footprints, no concrete evidence of the Yowie's existence has been found.

But Cryptozoologists continue to investigate, while skeptics believe that the legend comes from misidentified animals or folklore passed down through generations.
