ORIGIN: Northeastern North America
The Skadegamutc, also known as the "Ghost Witch," is a creature from the folklore of the Wabanaki tribe among the Mi'kmaq and Maliseet people in northeastern North America.
This supernatural being is the undead spirit of an evil sorcerer who, through dark magic and rituals, refused to stay dead.
Instead of passing peacefully into the afterlife, the Skadegamutc returns as an evil, flesh-eating entity, preying upon the living humans.
Unlike traditional ghosts, the Skadegamutc takes on a tangible, rotting form, though it can transform into a ball of fire in order to travel in through the night without being seen.
It stays in the forests, only coming out after dark to feed on its victims.
Unlike a vampire, which drinks blood, the Skadegamutc eats the flesh of the living and even those that have been recently buried.
Legends say that the only way to permanently destroy a Skadegamutc is by burning its body completely, because just wounding it will not stop it from returning again.
And anyone who comes into contact with this creature will becoming a Skadegamutc themselves, cursed to roam as a flesh-hungry phantom.
