"This is where we've arrived? It doesn't seem any different from our world," Stark remarked.
The two of them reappeared in a bustling, modern metropolis. Stark had expected a fantastical place with gods and magical beings flying around, but instead, it was far more ordinary than he had imagined.
"This is the place. Let's just walk around. Maybe we'll bump into the person we're looking for," Han Yu said as he glanced around, feeling somewhat uncertain. He wasn't sure about the exact timeline they had landed in.
Or rather, even if he did know, it wouldn't help much. When watching Kamen Rider, Han Yu had never paid attention to the timeline of the story. Besides, the series rarely mentioned specific dates, so Han Yu was even more clueless.
"The scroll I used is supposed to transport us directly to the world of Decade, but that guy's always wandering into the worlds of other Riders. I really have no idea which Rider's world we're in right now."
Han Yu felt a headache coming on but didn't voice his concerns. Instead, he led Stark to wander the area. They soon found a small food stall selling oden and decided to sit down for a quick meal.
While eating, the stall owner kept chatting with Han Yu, asking if they were tourists and similar small talk. Han Yu casually went along with it, saying they were there for sightseeing.
Mid-conversation, Han Yu glanced at Stark and noticed him sitting quietly, wearing an awkward yet polite smile as he ate. That's when it struck Han Yu—they hadn't come to this world via the general store, so Stark didn't have access to the store system's universal translation ability.
To Han Yu, the conversation seemed perfectly normal. The stall owner was speaking Japanese, but Han Yu heard it as Chinese. Similarly, Han Yu spoke Chinese, and the owner seemed to hear it as Japanese.
Reaching into the system storage, Han Yu took out a piece of translation konjac and handed it to Stark. In a low voice, he said, "I forgot you can't understand Japanese. Eat this, and you'll be able to."
"This thing works like that?"
Stark examined the strange jelly-like item curiously before popping it into his mouth without much hesitation. As soon as he swallowed, he was amazed. What had sounded like incomprehensible gibberish from the stall owner was now perfectly clear English.
"Incredible! This thing is way better than any fancy translation device!" Stark muttered softly. He couldn't help but think about how much money something like this could fetch on the market—it'd definitely command a high price.
After finishing their meal, the two decided to continue exploring. Han Yu still had no idea where Decade, or as he jokingly called him, Wang Xiaoming, might be. He figured wandering around until something happened was their best bet.
Just as Han Yu stood up, someone hurried past and accidentally bumped into his shoulder. The person apologized quickly without stopping and continued running.
"Kaido, stop right there!"
A shout came from behind, followed by another figure rushing past them. Han Yu turned to look and instantly recognized the familiar face. His mind matched the face with his memories—this was Decade himself, Kadoya Tsukasa!
"So, the person who just ran ahead must be Diend, the second Rider in Decade, often nicknamed 'Kaido's wife' by fans. The phantom thief Kamen Rider!" Han Yu murmured to himself.
Diend was a Kamen Rider who transformed using a gun. His suit was predominantly blue. He traveled between worlds alongside Decade, secretly stealing treasures with special powers or significant meaning.
Though he often caused trouble for Decade, the two had a love-hate relationship. Initially portrayed as enemies, they eventually became friends. Because Decade frequently indulged him, fans humorously referred to Diend as "Kaido's wife."
"Quick, follow them! That's who we're looking for—Wang Xiaoming!" Han Yu exclaimed. He hastily pulled out a few Japanese banknotes from his pocket, slapped them onto the table, and dragged Stark as they ran off in pursuit.
It wasn't easy to find their targets, so there was no way they would let them get away so easily.
Running immediately after eating was tough, and Stark nearly threw up. Fortunately, his regular exercise regimen kept him in decent shape, so he wasn't completely winded after a few strides.
"By the way, is the person we're looking for really named Wang Xiaoming?" Stark asked breathlessly, struggling to keep pace with Han Yu, who was running ahead.
"Not exactly. The person we're after is indeed him, but his real name is Kadoya Tsukasa. Because he likes to collect other people's transformation cards, it reminded my hometown's internet users of a certain character who also goes around collecting cards. So, they nicknamed him Xiaoming. I got so used to it that I just call him Brother Xiaoming now," Han Yu explained.
He didn't elaborate on the specific character the nickname referred to since Stark wouldn't know them anyway. This vague explanation was just enough to get the point across.
Stark understood the gist and didn't bother with the finer details.
As they kept chasing, Han Yu gestured with a downward motion of his hand, signaling Stark to slow down. Stark caught on immediately, reducing his speed and stepping lightly to avoid making noise. The two eventually hid in some bushes, quietly observing the scene in front of them.
"Kaido, return that! Those are my Rider cards!" Kadoya Tsukasa, a.k.a. Decade, pointed at the box in Kaido's arms and demanded.
"Oh, you want them? Then you'll have to prove yourself," Kaido replied with a sly grin.
He let out a wicked chuckle as he reached behind his back with his right hand. When his hand reappeared, it held a sleek and unusual black gun.
"If you want a fight, I'm more than happy to oblige."
Kadoya's expression darkened as he pulled an item from what could only be described as a "four-dimensional pouch."
Stark caught a glimpse of the item, and his eyes widened slightly.
"That… that's the belt you showed me before?" Stark asked, surprised.
"Exactly! Looks like we got lucky. I didn't expect we'd get to see what I wanted to show you so soon. Watch closely—it's going to blow your mind," Han Yu said with a mischievous grin.
Stark then saw Kadoya and Kaido each pull out a card. One inserted the card into the slot on his gun, while the other placed his into the slot on his belt. Both transformation devices emitted a mechanical male voice:
"KamenRide."
"Diend."
"Decade."
"Transform!"
With a shout, magenta crystal cards and blue crystal cards shot out from their devices, enveloping them before merging into their bodies.
The two transformed into armoured figures that appeared both light and agile. Decade's suit featured magenta and black as its primary colors, with card-like details adorning his helmet and a pair of enormous green compound eyes that dominated a third of his face.
In contrast, Diend's suit was primarily blue and black, with the abdominal section divided into black at the top and bottom, while blue accented the sides of his waist. The card-like elements on his helmet were even more striking than Decade's.
