Chapter 58 - Let not your anger

Chapter 58

"No, we can't kill him. He is still human." Baby said. 

"Cailian shot out to the demon bull. Columbus, we already have all the information we need to take you into custody. I suggest you surrender now peacefully for the murder of Mayor Ray. If you proceed to engage us, it may result in us having to use Force Mayor, which may not result in summary execution. You're surrounded. There's nowhere for you to flee. We still have some questions that we need answered. I will personally see to it that your sentence will be reduced if you come in with us." 

"On the other hand, if I take you down, no one will see you better because you're Outsiders anyway, and I won't have any judges to persecute me." 

"Matilda stepped from around us. Oh, but you will have someone I am a witness to, much less the council, which is already suspicious of you. We have spoken with the villagers, and they already know that we're here to ask questions concerning Mayor Ray. How could you do this? He was your best friend." 

"Correction, he was my best friend. Aside from me killing him after all the crap he was willing to put our people through, he also stole your mother for me. You're destined to be my child. I was with your mother from many years before your father came in and, so to speak, bought her heart." 

"So that's why you were desperate to make more money than my father and take over his title." 

"Yes, and the bandits would have helped me do that. I was supposed to get paid half a million dollars to take him out as well as the other chief of the sister Village." 

"So you were behind the attackers that killed my grandmother?" Cailian growled. 

"Yes, I was supposed to remove any traces of your family's bloodline, and I got paid half a million per each family member I executed. Mayor Ray, your grandmother, the twins, as well as Zayiah, Cailian, and you, Matilda! That money would set me up for life, and I would be able to run this city without any questions until you, the meddling kids, get in the middle of everything!" 

"You really would be willing to kill me?" Matilda asked Columbus. 

"Baby?" Kaysi leaned over and whispered. Do you think it's possible to use the same move as you did before removing the demon from the goat? 

"The soul of a human and the soul of an animal are different. For a human to be possessed, they must be aware of their sin or willing. An animal does not have as much awareness as humans do in most cases, so their being possessed unwillingly, though rarely does it happen, is still possible. Columbus was possessed by his own free will. He sought out a way to gain more power to do harm to others, knowing fully well the consequences. 

Micah spoke up. My demon possession was something similar to that situation. I paid for my own sins by this punishment. Though I did not see the demon attack the girl that night in the park, I heard the screams and saw the blood, and I ran in the other direction. My fear made me a Target for that demon. That being said, can we use some type of item to suppress the demon like you did with me? 

"We were able to use the cross to suppress your demon because you were still willing to keep your Humanity. Though this man is human, he's abandoned his Humanity." 

"So then why don't we execute him the same way we would a demon? Then, if he's abandoned all hope of Being Human Again, shouldn't he, sir, come to the same punishment, the execution of being a demon." 

"I can see your anger is not allowing you to think very clearly, Micah. We still need to keep him alive so we can figure out how to get the people's homes back and what he's done or what he has plotted." 

Ugh, Micah sighed. James walked over and put his hand on Micah's shoulder. "You're right. You are not thinking clearly. Unless you are really needed, I think it's best to set this one out." Micah nodded to James, and they walked back. 

Columbus smiled when he spotted Micah walking away from the group. "Yeah, you see there, aren't you? You can take notes from the rest of your party and walk off, acting like none of this ever happened. Cailian and Matilda, just bow your heads. I'll make your execution quick and merciful.

"What the hell did you say to me, Angus?" Micah turned around as those someone threw a sharp knife at her head. Her eyes blared red. And a Dark Gloom started to come over her head. 

"MICAH!" Baby shouted. Don't let your anger get the better of you! 

Baby had been training Micah to suppress her anger, but the situation hit a little too close to home. People dying and losing their homes over territories reminded her of her uncle and his daughter, who had passed away. The motions soon began to cloud Micah's better judgment. We feared that she would soon be going to Rampage and losing control. 

Becky looked over at Josh. "Get her as far away from here as possible so we can de-escalate." 

Josh turned into a phoenix and prepared for Micah as she came over in their Direction, looking to attack the bull demon. 

Becky shouted at Micah. "Don't you see he's trying to provoke you? Don't feed into his ignorance!" 

Just as Josh lifted into the air, reaching out his claws to collide with Micah and stop her in her tracks, the bull demons snuck up behind Becky, towering over the top of her. We didn't see him move so quickly within the chaos as he towered over the top of her. 

"If a little girl wants to get off by taking her anger out on me, so be it. Come get me. I will put little bitch the little bitch down! COME GET ME! Columbus said as his horns side-swiped Becky, breaking her arm and sending her flying.
