The web was abuzz with viral stories, their headlines proclaiming, "Childhood Sweethearts Reunited" and "A Union of Beauty and Brilliance." "They Restore Our Faith in Romance."

As I perused the articles, my phone chimed. It was Anthony. His composed voice inquired, "Shall I arrange to have those viral posts taken down?"

I grinned. "It's unnecessary. That situation no longer concerns me. Why squander our resources on trivial matters?"

He laughed softly. "Point taken. Let's conserve our funds. What do you say we sample some engagement attire today? The pieces I arranged to be sent should have arrived."

Just yesterday, we had made the decision to get engaged, and this morning, the outfits were already here. I was speechless, moved by his promptness. In comparison, during my engagement preparations with Robert, I managed everything solo. His only contributions were a few impatient comments. He never considered how drained I might be.

Now, Anthony has demonstrated how a true fiancé should behave.

The gown Anthony had imported fit me flawlessly. The designer remarked, "Mr. Norton was adamant that I accompany the dress to ensure a perfect fit. He wanted any alterations done immediately. I felt quite pressured, but seeing you now, I understand his concern. He truly adores you."

"He's also requested that I create your wedding gown. I'll need to take your measurements and I've brought some sketches for your perusal. Which one appeals to you most?"

I blushed, and Anthony stood nearby, smiling mysteriously.

After a full day of trying on dresses and accessories, I arrived home completely worn out. Just as I sat down, my phone rang. It was Robert. As soon as I answered, he barked, "Where are you? Why aren't you here yet? Do you enjoy making everyone wait?"

Bewildered, I asked, "Where am I supposed to be?"

Robert scoffed, "Oh, come on, Trudy. Are you feigning ignorance? I sent you a message. Diana is coming back to the country today. I'm attending a welcome party for Diana. She insisted you join us. Get here now. I've sent you the address."

I checked my phone and found an unread WhatsApp message from him, sent hours ago.

In addition to the location, Diana had sent a voice note. She said, "Trudy, it's been so long since we've met. Come join us. Don't tell me you're still upset about my relationship with Robbie, are you?"

Then I heard Robert take the phone and say, "Trudy, if you don't show up, I'll keep the painting I promised you."

My resolve weakened. Robert had photographed an oil painting I had long coveted. He had promised to give it to me but never did. Evidently, he was using it as leverage. I sighed, got up and went. Fine. A few more days of enduring these unpleasant situations wouldn't kill me.

When I arrived at the restaurant, they were already drinking. Diana and Robert occupied the seats at the head of the table. They looked like the perfect pair.

Upon seeing me, Diana made a show of standing up and with feigned warmth called out, "Trudy, you're here! Sit here." She then prepared to move to the seat beside her to make room for me.

Robert promptly grabbed her hand, "She can sit anywhere. You stay here. You're tonight's guest of honor."

Diana gave me an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, Trudy. Robbie's had some wine and is a bit tipsy. Don't take it personally."

I calmly took a random seat. "It's fine. Where I sit doesn't matter. Besides, Robert's right. You're the main attraction tonight."

Robert's friends began to tease. "We were just discussing Robert picking you up at the airport. Honestly, you two look fantastic together. That viral photo? It was mesmerizing. Like a scene from a movie."

"You two really should be a couple. Breaking up before was such a shame. Now that Diana is back in the country to further her career, you two can start anew."
