Sakura climbed the grand staircase, the sound of her footsteps muffled by the thick carpet. As she approached Mia's door, she hesitated for a moment, gathering her thoughts. Then she knocked gently.
"Mia? It's me, Sakura. Can I come in?"
There was a pause, then a muffled "Come in" from inside.
Sakura pushed the door open and stepped into Mia's lavish bedroom. The room was as extravagant as she remembered—large windows framed by heavy curtains, a plush canopy bed, and shelves lined with expensive trinkets and books. But the girl lying curled up on the bed, her face buried in her arms, was a far cry from the confident, radiant Mia Sakura knew.
"Mia," Sakura said softly, approaching the bed.
Mia looked up, her blue eyes full of tears. Her blonde hair was disheveled, and her usually flawless complexion was marred by tear-streaked cheeks.
Sakura sat down beside her, her heart breaking at the sight. "Your mom told me what's been happening."
Mia stiffened, her gaze darting away. "I told her not to tell anyone," she muttered, her voice trembling.
"She's just worried about you," Sakura said gently. "We both are. Why didn't you tell me? Or at least reply to my messages?"
Mia hesitated before answering, her voice barely above a whisper. "Because… I didn't want to worry you. And I turned my phone off because the girls who were bullying me kept calling and texting."
Sakura frowned, her hands balling into fists. "Mia, you should've come to me. You don't have to face this alone."
Mia's shoulders shook as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks. "I was scared, Sakura. I didn't know what to do."
Sakura placed a comforting hand on Mia's back. "It's okay. I'm here now. Tomorrow, we're going to college together, and we'll handle this. We'll teach those girls a lesson they won't forget."
Mia sniffled, her voice shaky. "I don't know, Sakura…"
"You can do this," Sakura said firmly. "You're strong, Mia. Stronger than you think. Just send me their names, and we'll figure out the rest."
Mia nodded hesitantly, a flicker of hope in her tear-filled eyes.
Sakura smiled gently, brushing a strand of hair from Mia's face. "Everything's going to be okay. I promise."
…
After Sakura left, Mia sat in silence, her tear-streaked face now calm. She stood up slowly and walked to the mirror, her movements deliberate. The raw emotion from earlier was gone, replaced by something colder.
Looking at her reflection, Mia smiled faintly.
"Oh, 'Sweet Sakura.' This is just the beginning."
She leaned in closer, her eyes dark with resolve. "Just wait... I'm slowly going to fuck up your life like you fucked mine when you stole my man."
