Ruler 2

 Osiris did not bother saying anything, the weight of his presence was enough to signal that he was not here for small talk.

 As the tension continued to build, Osiris began. "Are any of you related to the chaos that has come to the Duat?" He questioned the two, his mind headed back to the events that occurred a few days back. 

 He received a report regarding some minor turmoil stirring in the Duat. As a competent king he sent his vessels to investigate the stirring turmoil. 

 To his shock, some of those highly trained vassals came back severely injured, and a few even ended up as casualties. 

 They were all promptly rushed to the infirmary while prominent gods of healing were summoned. Gods such as Isis and Serket were summoned. Each did whatever they could, but all left confused and scratching their heads.

 Isis invoked most of her power but could only slightly alleviate the pain of the men, while Serket summoned a swarm of insects to heal them. 

 Serket's method somewhat worked, but she too left as too many of her precious familiars perished from absorbing the foreign energy. 

 Osiris patiently waited for his men to wake after dismissing all the gods of healing. Though he did not forget to compensate each properly for their efforts, he did not have the leeway to show proper hospitality.

 A threat was practically at his doorstep, it would be unwise to charge recklessly into an unknown threat. This was definitely the correct decision, as just slightly after all the gods of healing, health and magic departed.

 A massive explosion radiated from the realm of Anubis. This was terrible news as reports of various demons, vassals and even some minor gods got caught in the shockwaves and are showing similar signs as the ones in the infirmary.

 Not much time passed before the royal infirmary was flooded with casualties and staff running about to alleviate the pain of those suffering. 

 Amidst the mass suffering due to the explosion the captain of the vassals, one woke up. A pained groan was heard as he clutched his throat in pain while crying tears of blood.

 Osiris, ever the benevolent ruler, immediately appeared before one and supported him. He helped one take a pain-killing medicinal herb and helped to reduce the pain he was in.

 Although potent it still took an astonishing two minutes for the herb's medicinal effects to take. This proved once again to Osiris how correct his decision was to first find out more about the enemy before charging in blindly.

 "One, what happened? Can you give me a full report on the situation, if not briefly summarise whatever information you have."

 Osiris requested, ever the loyal vassal, one nodded solemnly and began to recount his experience. 

 "My lord, we haven't the slightest clue to the cause of the situation." His eyes sharpened further and continued his story before Osiris could ask anything.

 "When we were making our way to lord Anubis's abode, an explosion of dark energy erupted and the shockwaves hit all of us." 

 He rubbed his neck again before continuing, "At first nothing much happened when we interacted with the energy, but we were all wrong, we should have turned back immediately."

 One's eyes drifted towards his men, a look of pain etched due to the weight of his decision to continue, he then continued his recount of the situation. 

 A few minutes after the initial blast, when three suddenly collapsed. We stopped to assess his situation, but nothing we did worked. After the strange situation I decided for a small group to break off and bring three back for treatment.

 I only know that, three, six and seven are dead as we were rushing back when the main team started showing symptoms that practically crippled three. 

 My lord I am sorry, but all I can report is to treat all that has been affected by that dangerous energy.

 One gripped his lords hands for dead life as he recounted the events, and the light in his eyes began fading.

 In the end right after his warning he passed in the grip of his lord.
