The pistol scorches the skin on my back, the dagger digging into my ankle. Fear slithered through my veins, mixing with fiery adrenaline that caused my body to vibrate. “Why do you want to know?”

Their gaze was cold and menacing, a wrathful storm brewing in the atmosphere. The man with caramel eyes stepped forward, shadows gathering around him and amplifying his threatening aura. “Lazarus killed our people, our families. So where is he?” a chilling edge in his voice.

I knew they caught my scent, one of a human and yet they continuously pried for answers on his whereabouts. Each calculative step brought him further towards me, a spicy scent of acrimony tickling my nose.

“Why would I know where he is?” I retorted sharply with simmering rage.
