He lunged for my throat, chaos ensuing in his eyes. Dread coiled around my spine, twisting my stomach. His fingers tightened, making it difficult for me to breathe. Lazarus pressed on my pulse point, anticipating the lie so that he can kill me.

My heart pounded mercilessly, the situation was delicate, between life and death. I had to be strategic with my answer if I wanted to survive and get revenge – I couldn’t take the bait.

My mind was spinning out of control, attempting to decipher what Lazarus liked and hated about me. A spark erupted in my brain as the realization dawned on me, I’ve said worse to him and never received a death threat.

What Lazarus found intriguing about me was my brutal honesty.
