A few weeks have passed. Honestly, it is not that boring since I mostly hang out with the knights, Mary, and Ethan most of the time. Although it is way too boring, I want to go back to my world. I miss my phone, my games, and my friends too.
I yawned as I sat on the couch in the library, reading a random book I found.
"This book is full of bullshit. I mean, who wants to remarry their ex-husband after divorcing them for abuse?" I sighed as I threw the book to the side.
Laughter and sweet chatters were heard outside since the window next to me was open slightly.
I glanced through the window, seeing, well, my supposed family having tea-time. The king isn't there, probably busy working.
All three surrounding our sweet heroine. Although, I heard from the knights that they didn't want to be close to her for some unknown reason. They think she is pretty strange and feel off around her, which made me more cautious. She might be different than what is described in the novel. After all, I haven't even finished the book. The novel's name itself sounded pretty off. I never thought about it that much since I personally never cared about it—till now.
I didn't see anything strange about her or anything. She seemed genuinely sweet, but I have to be cautious around her.
I stood up from the comfortable couch, stretched my body, and walked out of the library. I sighed, clearly bored.
"What else is there to do in this massive palace?.." I skipped through the long halls. I stopped as soon as I heard talking through one of the doors, apparently coming from the biggest door.
"The village 'Tyapa' outside the kingdom has been massacred, not a single soul or life is alive or seen, unfortunately, We asked anyone nearby the village, they told us that it was like this since last year." the first man said with a worried voice.
'Trust me, I do not "What do you mean that the whole village 'Tyapa' was massacred a year ago? By who? And why have I found out about this just now?!" The man hit the table. His voice sounded familiar.
I walked closer to the door, peeking through the small opening. It was the king and his assistant.
"Your Majesty. I do not know. I also found out passing through it days ago. I apologize. Shall I investigate the massacre?" The white-haired man bowed, lowering his head.
Alban sighed as he ruffled his hair, sitting back in the seat, crossing his legs, and gesturing for him to rise.
"Yes, report anything suspicious to me right away. Do not utter a single word about this to anyone. Understood?"
The white-haired man nodded as he stood up, fixing his posture.
"As you wish, Your Majesty."
Alban made a signal with his hand, telling him to leave. The white-haired man understood and turned around.
I needed to leave quickly. I was about to turn around, but the door was opened fully by the white-haired man. His eyes widened slightly, his sage green eyes staring at me. I laughed awkwardly, avoiding his gaze.
"Your Highness, what are you doing here? You didn't hear anything, did you?"
I quickly shook my head, not wanting to get caught.
"Is it Yami?" the king asked with interest in his voice, rising up from his seat and walking toward us.
"No. It is Her Highness, Elena."
"Oh, what do you want, child?" he said, sounding uninterested as soon as he heard my name.
I don't want to see you myself either. I hate this! This is my second time seeing him since I took over this body.'
"Um, nothing. I was just passing through. I will leave, Your Majesty." I bowed my head and walked away as quickly as I could to get away from them.
"Majesty?." He mumbled, clearly sounding confused, his eyebrow raised, looking at his assistant.
"She never, ever called me that. Now that I think about it… she stopped greeting me each morning or even trying to get my attention."
"I suppose she stopped trying." The assistant put his hands behind his back, stating a fact, looking in my direction.
"She finally learned something, at least." Alban walked back to his desk.
The assistant left as he was supposed to.
The king looked at the papers, his chin leaning on his hand, and he let out a loud sigh.
Did I do the right thing… Layla?.. he thought to himself, thinking the same thing over again like he always did.
-
I let out a loud sigh, relaxing my body after an intense encounter.
"That was intimidating."
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I glanced behind me. It was Ray. I let out an annoyed sigh as I turned around.
"What do you want, Ray? To be honest, you're wasting your time annoying me!"
Ray had an embarrassed expression on his face. He opened his mouth like he was thinking of what to say to me.
"Elena, it's not that, um…" I tilted my head, kind of surprised at how he was speaking to me. "Can you help me with something?"
"Depends… What is it? Actually, why don't you ask Yami to help you out?"
Is he trying to mess with me or something?
"Well, can you help with, um, math? I heard from your tutor you're pretty good at math." He paused, then continued. "Yami… she's just a beginner in math, so she doesn't know much." I looked at him dumbfounded, not expecting that request.
"N-not that I think you're good at it. I just want to see how good you are with math!" He looked away from me with a flushed face as he crossed his arms.
I blinked a couple of times.
"AHAHAHA…" I laughed, my arms slowly wrapping around my stomach because I was laughing too much.
"STOP LAUGHING!" he yelled as his face got redder.
"Haaa… Alright, I will help…" I stopped laughing. He let out a relieved sigh.
We were sitting in the library. I explained to him slowly, writing down the math equations and teaching step by step as if I were teaching a child since he didn't get it when I explained it fast.
"Who even created this? It's not like we need it for anything. It's useless!" Ray put his head down in frustration. "It's making my brain hurt!"
I smirked. "That's because you don't have one."
He raised his head, looking offended. "Maybe you're just bad at explaining things!"
"Uh-huh," I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. He stood up.
"But thanks, I guess. I understand most of it, thanks to you. But forget this whole thing—this never happened!" He raised his voice at the end as he hurriedly walked out of the library.
"Whatever!" I grabbed the pencil and began to draw, getting lost in thought.
Tyapa Village… I remember in the novel it was massacred. I guess it happened now. It never said who it was, just some random group that the king's assistant found but was instantly killed the next week after being caught spying. He couldn't tell much about the group to the king.
They did also cause problems for the Light Kingdom. They mostly targeted the Light Kingdom and its allies.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I looked at the paper. A confused expression formed on my face, not knowing what I drew.
Shadows, grabbing onto people. The people looked like they were screaming, trying to run away from their own shadows.
"Now what did I just draw? Eh, whatever." I put my pencil down. I held the paper, crushed it, and threw it away in the trash can nearby.
Anyways… Let's look for something for me to return to my own world before things get messy. I don't want to be part of this novel, especially not when I'm the villainess who gets killed.
My first plan is to find something that I can use to return back to my world. Even though I'm dead in my other world, maybe I can go back with this body of mine.
I stood up, looking around the library. "Now where to begin?…" I mumbled, walking to the first bookshelf nearby, looking at each book, opening them up, and putting them back.
"Nothing! This is gonna be a long, boring day. Just me looking at books." I mumbled to myself, going through a book as quickly as I could.
A few hours had passed. I sat on the floor, sighing loudly as I threw a book I had seen a few minutes ago, meaning I didn't find anything.
I looked around, seeing the mess I made—books everywhere on the floor, away from where they were.
"This is so annoying… I'm already tired!" I yawned as I adjusted my position to lay down, looking at the sky through the window ceiling.
I can't give up yet… There is a chance, probably a 0.1% chance I could find it.
I hummed softly as I stood back up, walking up the stairs to the third floor while humming. I already searched the first and second floors.
That was where the private rooms were. I looked at each door. "I doubt there is anything in them that has a book of a different world. Why would anyone want to know about a different world anyway? They would think it's fake."
I looked at the shelf near me, eyeing a specific book. It looked old and had not been used for a long time.
Maybe it has something important in it, hopefully.
I walked up to the shelf, being on my tiptoes, trying to reach it.
I was too small to even reach it. I started to hold onto each shelf, putting one foot on one shelf and the other foot on the second shelf. I was climbing it, too focused to look for a ladder.
I formed a grin as I grabbed it, losing my balance completely. I tried to grab onto anything but ended up grabbing books.
A thud was heard throughout the floor. It was me—I made that noise. I fell while the books fell on me, groaning in pain.
"Oww…" I quickly removed the books off me.
My clothes and my hair are messed up now.
I let out a frustrated sigh, looking at the old book. I grabbed it as I went through it.
"This is so stupid. It doesn't even say anything about another world, just stupid magic."
I threw the book away, irritated as I stood up, brushing off the dust on my clothes and fixing my hair without a mirror.
I should've looked for a ladder.
"Whatever. This might be useful someday. I'll take it with me." I bent down as I reached to grab it, brushing off the leftover dust. I carried it, leaving the library quietly. I looked back at it. The books were everywhere, messed up because of me. But oh well, whatever.
"So useless! I hate this!" I grumbled.
I wanna punch someone… or something.
"Might as well lay down all day since I'm hopeless now. All I can do is get away from fate by doing absolutely nothing."
I made my way to Elena's obsessed red and golden room—or my room.
