The foolish peacock

Leona proudly strides to the elevator. Her brows raised, she blows a confident kiss at the ten burly men currently strong-arming their captives into the elevator. All activities come to a halt as all eyes sweep to the proud figure confidently heading in their direction.

"We have another one," one of the masked men commented, oblivious to the incredulous looks of his counterparts.

"Mmmmh, why don't you come and get me?" her sultry voice challenged, undermining the inflated egos of the Rebels, who had grown accustomed to eliciting fear and horror wherever they went.

The men threw caution to the wind, brimming with confidence in their abilities within a realm that suppressed their opponent's powers while amplifying their own. Even the legendary 'Wild One' was no match for them in this situation. They swiftly surrounded her, leaving no avenue for escape.

"Well, well, if it isn't the almighty 'Wild One'! I never imagined I'd catch you here shopping," their leader, a Tier 3 mage, sneered, his eyes sweeping the full length of her skin tight leather outfit. "Shouldn't you be out running wild on the plains?" His companions laughed raucously at her expense. Today, this mage was determined to claim her bounty for himself, lost in dreams of the fortune that awaited him."Wild One, huh? Now that I think about it, could they be referring to something more? Seems to me the lady might be a bit of a wild card in other ways," he taunted mercilessly, eager to rattle her composure.

Leona readied to attack, "you talk too much." she wasn't really the chatty type, she was more action less words. She lunged at the arrogant bastard, ready to pummel him into oblivion. To her surprise, the bastard had real skills, her attack rebounded, halted by the ice shield that stood between her and him. "Hmmph, interesting. I'm going to enjoy this." She flicked her wrist, and her nails elongated, turning into claws. She wasted no time, lunging back into the battle, this time she headed first to a tier 2 fire mage lunching fire arrows at her, a swipe of her claws was enough to send him flying, bleeding from the long gashes that lined his torso.

The rebels faltered a bit in fear before resuming their attacks with renewed intensity. She weaved and twisted, dodging their attacks without breaking a sweat. She appeared in front of another, this time a werewolf and gave him a kick that sent him flying, she immediately followed, appearing above the fallen werewolf she dug her heels into its furry head driving it into the crystal floor. The abused werewolf let out a distressed whine before losing consciousness.

Leona brows furrowed in amusement; the cunning wolf just sent a distressed signal to all werewolves in the vicinity, summoning them to come to its aid. The more the merrier, she thought with excitement as she made quick work of the rest reveling in their screams of horror and paying no mind to their "get hers" she got rid of all except the ice fucker, him she'd take her time with. Afterall he held a special place in her heart. "Alone at last. I couldn't quite get what you were saying earlier, but the others seemed to find your words funny. Since you have proven to be quite the comedian, I'd like for you to regale me with your jokes." She smiled wickely, walking slowly towards the ice fucker.

The man's eyes widened in terror as his resolve faltered, interrupting his spell-casting process. "H-halt! D-don't come any closer!" he screeched shrilly, inching toward the elevator doors in a desperate attempt to escape her horrifying presence. Instead of fleeing, he stumbled forward, pushed by the antagonised crowd behind him.

With a sadistic smile, Engell retracted her claws and met his ugly face with her bare fist making him spit out blood mixed with his rotten teeth. "I knew I felt a connection the first time we met." She gave him a hard kick in the groin, she winced in compassion when she felt something explode against her leg, blood immediately pooled down below. "How is that for wild." Her knee connected with his jaw, dislocating it. She gave him a ruthless slap just as he was about to slip into a faint. "I don't think so, this lady is not done with you just yet." The crowd gasped at the ruthless scene; some pretentious self-righteous saints felt obligated to speak against what they deemed to be a barbaric display of power.

"Enough, you are going to kill him if you continue, then you'll be no different from them." A prideful peacock stepped out from the crowd, putting on airs and giving her a generous look she guessed was supposed to comeoff as good natured.

Leona paused mid-action, she looked up incredulously at the most unique being she had ever met, she never knew someone could be so uniquely stupid. Live and learn, she was just beginning to learn the meaninhg of those words.

"Who are you?" she asked with a deadpan expression.

The peacock proudly puffed his chest. "I am Sir Fredrick Considine Leonard, a baron by title." He spoke proudly as if awaiting a standing ovation.

"I-meant-who-are-you-to-me?" She enunciated each word perfectly so he could get her words through his thick skull.

The peacock bristled with anger, his face turning a deep shade of red. "As expected from a barbarian; nothing good can come out of your mouth!" he scolded, forgetting their current situation.

A flash of annoyance crossed Leona's features as she silently surveyed the shifty crowd, noting their barely concealed expressions of disgust. "Do you all agree with him?" she asked impatiently, her irritation bubbling just beneath the surface. Her question was met with silence, as mixed feelings permeated the air.

"Of course they do, anyone would be put off with such a barbaric display." Never disappointing the ignorant peacock answered, oblivious to the wrongness of the atmosphere.

She shrugged indifferently. "ok." The peacock felt raised his head pridefully, feeling on cloud nine for having made the powerful wild one retreat with just his words. He felt complacent, wanting to say more but Leona beat him to the punch. "Since you all can clearly do without my help, I'll take my leave." With that, she disappeared, not forgetting to drag the unconscious ice fucker along ignoring the stunned crowd.

The crowd watched in disbelief as the Wild One followed her own command and faded from existence as if she had never been there at all. Before they could recover from their shock, the individual who had chased away their only form of protection began to speak, launching into his mindless rants. "What an uncouth creature! Really, a wild beast that needs to be put down," he exclaimed. The cold glares directed at him filled him with fear; he couldn't understand why they were looking at him that way. Trying to muster some courage, he glared back at the crowd. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?" he shouted, putting on a facade of bravado.Surprisingly, the crowd shivered and backed away from him in fear. Though surprised, his prideful nature took over, with a puffed up chest he arrogantly regarded the peasants. "hmmph now you- "a wolf howl interrupted his words, he trembled in fear, his blood ran cold as he slowly turned around in trepidation to look behind him. He screamed and lunged at the elevator, but was immediately pushed out by the occupants, falling into the welcoming jaws of the hostile werewolves. The last words he heard before he succumbed to eternal darkness was the taunting words thrown from the closing doors of the elevator. "Since you are so righteous, I don't think you will object to sacrificing yourself to buy us time." Came the taunting remark. The crowd watched coldly as he was mauled, glad the rebels had set up the elevator to work before they were interrupted, or else. They shivered in fear at the thought.

Leona watched the cruel scene in disgust, she never went far because she knew they would soon be welcoming new arrivals, she left because she couldn't stand to engage in such brainless conversations. But who knew the idiotic peacock would rouse public hatred resulting in him being pushed into the waiting jaws of death. Even the high and mighty Aureans are not above the despicable nature of the humans they loathed, she thought in disdain. She guessed she'll be blamed for this also, but that was no issue. She was already called and known by a lot of names, this will make no difference.

Now time to get some answers, she looked wickedly at the bloodied unconscious figure on the floor contemplatively. He shivered in his unconscious state as if aware of her gaze.
