*Rumble* Rumble*
The tiny pebbles shook from the impact of the little paws digging the soils of the forest floor. Grey eyes took in everything that nature had to offer in the dense forest. As the expected view of a familiar building gradually appeared in her sight, Clover in her beast form slowed down until her paws came to a stop.
*Pant* *Pant*
Tongue still stuck out, her furry body heaved high and low, trying to catch her breath. Dead leaves crunched underneath her paws as she walked to the closest and thickest tree, hiding her little furry figure behind the bark. A moment later, her human figure emerged from behind the tree.
However….the only difference was Clover’s face had a new collection, a black glasses.
‘’7:27 am….’’ At the sight of the time on the lighted screen of her phone, clover smiled to herself, pleased that she wasn’t in the least a bit late for her school. Tapping the button on the side, the lighted screen went blank, and clover dipped the phone into the pocket of her jeans.
Lifting her gaze with a lightened mood, clover adjusted the straps of her bag pack and jogged on light steps ahead to her destination which was the building on the other side of the road.
Her eyes lit up at the sight of a familiar face.
‘’Good morning sir.’’ Clover waved her hand up high for the attention of the middle-aged man standing around the entrance. A welcoming smile settled on his lips at the sight of the black-haired girl.
‘’If it isn’t our usual traveler, off to school this morning as always, I presume?’’ He asked as Clover stopped right in front his tall figure.
‘’Yes, I am. You are quite early today, sir.’’
‘’’One cannot start a week on the wrong foot, Miss.’’
‘True….’ Clover inwardly agreed to his words. This man was the only one who she had seen truly working for his wage as one from the Border wolves, especially in this time of peace.
‘’You really have to stop calling me Miss, Sir.’’ Clover did not forget to correct his address towards herself. If there was anyone who sincerely respected her as a daughter of an Alpha, it was this man.
As for the reason….perhaps it was pity?
‘’It is the respect that our Alpha’s first daughter deserves. Now off you go, unless you will be late for school.’’
‘’Right!’’ As though his words were a trigger, Clover suddenly recalled that she was in a hurry, and dashed for the door that was opened by the man.
‘’Have a nice day, sir!’’ She bid him goodbye before rushing into the building with an anxious look on her face.
‘’Have a wonderful day too, Miss.’’ The middle-aged man also bid with a smile. Closing the door, the man returned to his position, shaking his head with a sigh.
‘’What a pitiful child.’’
Back inside the building, Clover hastily brought out a card from her other pocket and swiped it over a card reader. Once the roaming red light flashed green, she pushed through the silver rods in her way and hurried to a specific one of the closed elevators.
Pressing a button, Clover only waited for a moment before the silver doors slid the sides and exposed a circular shape of many shades of blue color swirling around like a hypnosis spiral.
This was a portal, a gate connecting her clan to the other werewolf clans, and the mortal world.
Not the least surprised by this strange anomaly, Clover closed her eyes, walking through the portal with her card still within her grasp.
Apart from the tingles over her body, Clover didn’t feel strange as the world around her began to transform.

*murmur*
It didn’t take long for the familiar murmurs to reach her ears. Back in the building, there was no one apart from herself and the border wolf. Now…it was different since she was where beings of the mortal world resided, humans.
The sight of the doors sliding to the side welcomed clover’s eyes and she stepped out of the portal, out of the elevator. As the doors elevator slid to a close, Clover paced forward, bringing out her card and swiping over the card reader for the red light to be green. Once the color changed, she pushed the silver rods and made her way to the high reception table on the side.
‘’Good morning, I’m Clover from the Ravenhowl clan.’’ She stated to one of the receptionists on the other side of wide glass, a lady in a neat suit of white shirt and black pencil skirt, seated on a high swivel chair.
‘’Ah…the runt has come again.’’ The lady murmured, her gaze eyed clover up and down in disdain. The corner of her lips tilted up in a sneer.
‘’You know what to do, runt. Don’t disturb my peace.’’
Pursing her lips in silence, clover meekly heeded the words of the receptionist. Her gaze fell on the book with pen right in her front, and filled in the details that was required.
‘’You really are harsh with your words, May.’’ As clover left the receptionist table, the other receptionist that spectated the whole scene, shook her head at her colleague named May. If it wasn’t that she and May were from the same clan, she might have thought that May had a deep and personal grudge with the Alpha’s first daughter.
‘’I am not harsh. The runt just wasn’t ever supposed to be born. That’s all.’’ May believed firmly.
‘’Ah…you mean that incident.’’ The other receptionist understood then released a sigh. ‘’I do pity her though. Being treated like a servant and all…’’
A light scoff came from May after those words. ‘’Someone whose birth was cursed from the beginning is never to be pitied, Giselle.’’ Her mocking words directed to the disappearing back of black-haired girl.
‘’…...’’
Clover stepped out of the building without a word. Her entire countenance had already drained to a gloomy one after the words uttered specifically for her ears.
That receptionist, May, really knew what she did. Other receptionists would have ignored her, but this May really had to say those words.
Well...it wasn’t her first time of hearing them anyway.

Right in front of Clover was a bustling crowd and she strolled down the nearby train station. The familiar murmurs of the mortals also known as humans, walking here and there with many thoughts in their heads, and trains coming to a stop on their train tracks.
It didn’t take long for clover to settle in the train by the glass window. A moment later, the train began to move gradually until it settled on the normal speed.
Not paying attention to the humans on her side or the beautiful scenery outside the train, Clover relaxed her head on the seat, tilting it to the window side to avoid anyone noticing what was about to come.
Thereafter, a lone tear leaked from her eyes behind the glasses, trailing down her cheek without a sobbing sound escaping from her lips.
For the receptionist to have said those words, it seemed as if the entire world was reminding never to forget the reason why she should have never been born into this world.
If she had never been born, her precious mother would have never died an unfortunate death.
