Chapter Thirty Two: June

While Mia was busy chatting with her date on the phone, I took the opportunity to call a few vacant apartment owners. Luck was on my side—one of them agreed to let me visit on Monday. With that settled, I glanced over at Harper, who was fully immersed in typing her book. I decided not to disturb her.

Mia suddenly strutted toward us, excitement all over her face. "Guys, look alive! He’s here."

We quickly did some last-minute touch-ups. As soon as the doorbell rang, Mia bolted to open it. She threw a few kisses at him, which we promptly ignored.

"Guys, meet Mike. Mike, this is June." I gave him a small wave, and he nodded in response. "And this is Harper." Har waved as well, her usual calm self.

"Great, introductions done. Now, can we get going?" I pointed out that Mia seemed more interested in clinging to Mike than actually leaving.
