"We've found Murakami's body. All his belongings are missing. There's a high likelihood that the one responsible is another Pokémon hunter."
Upon hearing his subordinate's report, Kai felt conflicted—unsure whether to feel relieved or disappointed. However, his thoughts quickly shifted to a new objective: finding the one who had acted from the shadows.
If the mysterious figure was part of the Pokémon League or an allied trainer, Kai would be grateful for avenging the fallen rangers and do his best to repay them. But if they were a Pokémon hunter or part of a criminal group like Team Rocket, Kai vowed to unleash his fury upon them for the sacrifice of his comrades.
What Kai didn't know was that the target he sought had already left Mount Moon's vicinity and was continuing his journey as a trainer.
"Got it. I'll handle the transaction once I reach the next town."
Shadow hung up the call. Tyson deftly turned off his communicator and erased the call history. After acquiring such a large number of Moon Stones, Tyson knew he wouldn't need all of them—especially the lower-grade ones. Keeping only a few high-grade Moon Stones, Tyson contacted Shadow to handle the rest.
With Shadow involved, the Moon Stones could be exchanged for a significant number of contribution points. Additionally, it would alert Shadow to the events at Mount Moon, creating opportunities for strategic moves if the surrounding areas became unstable due to the riots.
With his business concluded, Tyson decided to rest.
Although it seemed like Tyson had done little during the chase, relying mostly on his Kadabra's precision teleportation to deliver targets to his blade, the reality was far more taxing. Tyson had been vigilantly tracking Murakami and his group, capitalizing on every small opportunity. The relentless focus had left him mentally exhausted.
Charmeleon and Eevee, perceptive as always, stayed close to Tyson, standing guard while he rested. Their loyalty brought Tyson a mix of pride and gratitude—and perhaps a little envy of Kadabra, who could retreat into its Poké Ball to recuperate without a second thought.
As these thoughts faded, Tyson's fatigue caught up with him, and he drifted into sleep. Charmeleon and Eevee remained vigilant, ensuring their trainer wasn't disturbed.
When Tyson awoke, the sky was dimming into twilight. Stretching, he decided to make camp for the night.
Charmeleon and Eevee, still alert from their long watch, deserved a break. Without asking for their help, Tyson quickly gathered firewood, built a fire, and began preparing dinner. Once the meal was ready, he released Kadabra from its Poké Ball.
Kadabra, now fully rested, appeared energetic and sharp. Tyson resolved to trade the Moon Stones with Shadow soon, intending to exchange some contribution points for a Calm Mind TM for Kadabra. Not only would it enhance Kadabra's combat effectiveness, but it would also allow the Pokémon to refine its psychic abilities outside of battle.
The next day, Tyson continued his journey. Unlike before, the spotlight now shifted to Kadabra, as Tyson focused on honing its battle skills and helping it gain as much experience as possible. This would not only aid Kadabra in mastering its growing psychic power but also push it closer to reaching its Excellent Level.
"Kadabra, time for a two-on-one. Let's test your limits—telepathy engaged."
Spotting a pair of Rattata ahead, Tyson's eyes lit up with excitement. After days of training in the forest, Kadabra's strength had grown significantly, and it was now on the brink of reaching the Excellent level. Tyson decided to use this opportunity to help Kadabra break through.
"Use Telekinesis to immobilize them, then hit the left Rattata with Confusion!"
Under Tyson's telepathic commands, Kadabra moved the instant the order was issued. By now, it had not only mastered Teleport and Confusion, but also honed its skills to an impressive degree.
The two Rattata, their eyes blazing with anger, prepared to launch a synchronized attack with Quick Attack. However, their plan was thwarted as Kadabra's Telekinesis stopped them mid-charge. A flash of psychic energy struck the left Rattata, sending it tumbling backward.
The second Rattata wasn't spared either, its body restrained by Kadabra's psychic hold.
"Kadabra, Teleport to the left one and use Confusion at close range!"
In a blink, Kadabra vanished and reappeared beside the first Rattata, its psychic energy blasting the small Pokémon head-on. The second Rattata, witnessing its companion's plight, lunged with a desperate Tackle. But Kadabra effortlessly vanished again, leaving the injured Rattata in the direct path of the attack.
The second Rattata collided with its ally, leaving both stunned. Before they could recover, Kadabra unleashed another wave of psychic energy, finishing them off.
Even against two opponents, Kadabra demonstrated its superiority, showing the advantage of mastering moves like Teleport and Confusion. Tyson was thrilled, knowing that the greater the number of enemies, the more opportunities Kadabra had to shine—especially when their restrictive options were limited.
Satisfied with the battle's outcome, Tyson opened his system panel and confirmed Kadabra's breakthrough into the Excellent Level.
Kadabra, prepared for this moment, closed its eyes and began meditating, gradually adapting to the surge of power coursing through its body.
