"Riverstone Town is just ahead. Let's take a well-deserved rest here," Tyson said, relief evident in his tone.
As he looked at the Quaint Town before him, he couldn't help but long for the comfort of a soft bed at the Pokémon Center. Sleeping on the ground, even with a decent sleeping bag, made him keenly aware of the earth's unyielding hardness.
Nestled in Tyson's arms, Eevee let out a contented sigh, clearly anticipating the luxury of a warm bath at the Pokémon Center.
The Town, named Riverstone Town, derived its name from the gentle river that flowed alongside it. As Tyson walked in, he noticed an abundance of shops selling fresh fish. The sight sparked an idea.
"Maybe I should stock up on some processed fish dishes before heading out again," he mused. With his space backpack to keep the food fresh, it was the perfect opportunity to expand his campfire menu. Grilled fish and fish soup seemed simple enough—both well within his limited cooking expertise.
Before arriving, Tyson had heard of the occasional fishing contests held in Riverstone Town. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side, and he had missed the latest one.
"Hello, I'd like to check in," Tyson said as he approached the Pokémon Center's front desk.
"Of course! Just one moment," Nurse Joy replied warmly, taking his Pokédex and registering his stay with practiced efficiency.
Tyson couldn't help but notice the slower pace of the small town. With fewer trainers passing through, the Pokémon Center had a quieter charm, and he could enjoy a bit more personal attention from Nurse Joy.
"All set. Your room is just down the hall—head left when you enter," Nurse Joy said with a smile.
"Thank you!" Tyson replied, returning her kind gesture.
"You're welcome," she said, watching him leave. Her cheerful demeanor faded slightly as her thoughts wandered. Nurse Joy always felt a mixture of admiration and concern when she met young, enthusiastic trainers like Tyson.
Not long after, Officer Jenny stormed into the Pokémon Center, her expression determined.
"Joy! Can you help me post this on the Pokémon bulletin board?"
Sighing, Nurse Joy nodded. "Alright, let's see it."
Jenny handed over a freshly printed wanted poster, her excitement barely contained. "This guy is likely to pass through City soon. I will catch him this time!"
Joy glanced at the poster. It displayed a man with sharp, almost unnerving features. His eyes, even in the photograph, seemed to bore into the viewer with an unsettling intensity.
"Just be careful during the arrest, Jenny," Joy warned. "He doesn't look like someone to take lightly."
"Don't worry, I've got this," Jenny said confidently, already pinning the poster to the board. She marched off to patrol the area, determined to gather clues.
Back in his room, Tyson didn't rest immediately. Instead, he began working on the task of delivering the moonstones he had gathered. Shadow had provided specific instructions, and Tyson knew he had to be cautious. He had carefully disguised himself before making the deliveries at various drop-off points around City.
After his work was done, Tyson returned to the Pokémon Center. As he walked past the reception area, a man checking in caught his attention.
Tyson noticed Eevee stiffen in his arms, and even he felt an instinctive twinge of danger radiating from the stranger.
Without drawing attention, Tyson kept walking. Once inside his room, he released Kadabra and gave a clear command.
"Kadabra, use your psychic powers to monitor that man's movements and remember his location."
Kadabra nodded, immediately locking onto the man's presence. Satisfied, Tyson opened his communicator to send a report to Shadow, ensuring that all resources, including his moonstones, were accounted for.
Meanwhile, the stranger at the reception desk, a man named Matsuno, took his room key and left. On his way out, he paused briefly at the bulletin board, glancing at the wanted poster. He studied it for a moment before continuing on his way.
Later, in the training room, Tyson prepared to introduce his new Pokémon to the team. Holding the Poké Ball, he smiled and addressed his current partners—Charmeleon, Eevee, and Kadabra.
"Alright, team, we've got a new member joining us. Be friendly and don't scare them, okay?"
The trio nodded eagerly, their curiosity piqued. With a flash of white light, Tyson released the newest addition to his party—a Mankey.
The scrappy little Pokémon blinked in confusion as it looked around. Its body was covered in light yellow fur, with darker brown fur on its limbs and tail. Its snout resembled that of a pig, and its triangular eyes darted between Tyson and his team.
"Welcome to the team, Mankey! We're going to be partners from now on," Tyson said warmly, offering a small treat as a gesture of friendship.
Mankey tilted its head at first, but the enticing aroma of the food soon won it over. As it grabbed the snack, it looked up at Tyson, visibly more at ease.
"These are your new teammates," Tyson continued, gesturing to each of his Pokémon. "This is Charmeleon, this is Eevee, and this is Kadabra. We'll all be working together from now on."
Though still wary, Mankey nodded and studied its new companions carefully. It didn't fully grasp the situation yet, but Tyson's warmth and the delicious treat had already begun to win its trust.
