Link Star had stayed late at the riverside workshop, deep in conversation with Viktor and Singed. Before leaving, he took with him the seeds of the blue sunflower—a unique plant that would perfect the human enhancement serum he had been planning.

The journey back to the Blue Mist Estate from the riverside workshop wasn't far, and with Link's swift pace, he soon arrived at his underground laboratory. After releasing Pride, his mechanical companion who couldn't use elevators, from his attachment module, Link instructed him to roam freely. Link himself, holding the vial containing the blue sunflower seeds, made his way to his alchemical chemistry lab.

The lab was stocked with all the tools and materials he needed. Placing the vial on a test tube rack, Link retrieved the alchemical notes gifted to him by Singed from another timeline. He carefully flipped through the pages, studying each potion formula and chemical equation, absorbing the knowledge and merging it with his own ideas to create a unique serum.

"Hmm, I think I've got it!" Link muttered to himself as he began mixing the potion, adding his own blood to the concoction.

As a user of Shimmer, Link's enhancement serum was naturally based on it. He planned to mix it with his own knowledge and inspiration, much like crafting a cocktail. Shimmer's effects on the human body were well-documented—high-quality Shimmer could even provide permanent enhancements.

Jinx was a prime example. After her battle with Ekko on the Bridge of Progress, she had been severely injured. If not for Singed's emergency surgery, she might not have survived. That surgery had granted her extraordinary traits—enhanced speed and reflexes—which, combined with her sharpshooting skills, made her a nightmare for anyone in Zaun.

But Link wanted more. He sought a complete enhancement—strength, speed, endurance, reflexes, healing—everything, from his internal organs to his skin. To achieve this, he needed to create a serum tailored to his genetic makeup. The key step was using his blood to cultivate a unique blue sunflower, which would serve as the primary ingredient for his serum.

As drops of his blood fell into the flask, the potion began to react violently, its color shifting chaotically until it settled into a clear, crimson hue. Shaking the flask, Link proceeded to prepare a special nutrient solution for the blue sunflower seeds. By the time he finished, the night had passed.

Yawning, Link placed the seeds in a cultivation chamber and added the serum made from his blood. Exhausted, he stretched and headed to his room to rest.

Inside the chamber, the seeds lay still in the crimson nutrient solution. Over time, the solution began to thin, as if the seeds were absorbing it greedily.

Link fell into a deep sleep, while Pride stood guard outside his door. The mechanical companion's Mobius core hummed softly, like a cat's purr, as his unwavering gaze remained fixed on Link, filled with devotion.

In the darkness, Link felt as though he were enveloped in a warm, comforting embrace. It was like being in a womb—safe, nourished, and content. But the darkness was suffocating. He wanted to stretch, to break free, to see the world beyond.

And so, he did.

As he absorbed the nutrients around him, he forced his way out of the darkness. Warm light bathed him as he stretched his sprout.

Wait—sprout?

Link's eyes snapped open, his heart racing.

"Father?" Pride's voice broke through his thoughts. Link waved his left hand dismissively. "It's nothing. Just a strange dream."

Sitting up, Link rubbed his forehead, trying to make sense of the dream. It had felt so real—as if he had truly become a seed, sprouting in a nutrient-rich solution. But why would he dream such a thing?

Seeds… seeds…

Wait!

Link bolted out of bed, barefoot, and rushed to his lab. Pride, holding his slippers, called after him, "Father, your shoes!"

But Link was already in the lab, staring at the cultivation chamber. The seeds had sprouted.

"This is impossible!" Link muttered, his mind racing. The only variable that connected him to the seeds was his blood.

Turning to Pride, who stood at the door holding his slippers, Link ordered, "Go tell Janna to prepare live test animals for me."

Pride placed the slippers by the door and left. Link slipped them on, his mind still reeling.

Janna was quick. Soon, the lab was filled with test animals—three pairs of mice, a pair of cats, a pair of dogs, and a docile monkey.

Link picked up a syringe and drew his own blood. "This will confirm it."

Injecting his blood into the animals, Link felt a familiar feedback—the same connection he had felt in his dream. The animals became extensions of his consciousness, responding to his will without losing their own autonomy.

"It's like… possessing them," Link murmured, watching a mouse stand on its hind legs at his command.

"Is this because of my magical abilities?"

Summoning Janna, a gentle breeze filled the room as her voice echoed in his ears. "How rare for you to think of me during an experiment!"

Link gestured to the mouse, which stood up again. Janna's ethereal form materialized, her eyes widening. "What did you do?"

"Can you see it?"

"Of course! Your magic is flowing through its body. How could I not notice?"

"So my blood is infused with my magic?"

Janna sighed, her form flickering. "For a mage with strong innate abilities, magic flows through their veins. Your talent for animating inanimate objects is already a miracle in the history of magic. Even though you've only recently awakened, your magical reserves are growing rapidly."

Link's eyes lit up with understanding. "So, not only can I animate objects, but I can also control living beings with my blood?"

"It seems so," Janna said, her tone a mix of awe and concern. "Your potential is terrifying. I can't imagine how powerful you'll become once you fully develop your abilities. You might even rival the legendary Mage-King of Icathia."

Link knew of the Mage-King—a title bestowed upon the most powerful and learned mages of Icathia before it was consumed by the Void.

"Rather than comparing myself to historical figures, I'm more interested in exploring the limits of my abilities."

"What do you mean?"

"If ingesting my blood allows me to control others, I wonder how far this control extends."

"Link!" Janna's spectral hands cupped his face, forcing him to look at her. "You can't just experiment recklessly! Your abilities are extraordinary, but if word gets out—"

"I know the risks," Link interrupted. "I'll only experiment when the opportunity arises."

"And when will that be?"

"When someone foolish or interesting enough crosses my path."
