After returning to the airship port, Link immediately sent for Miss Fortune.
These past few days had been a whirlwind of success for her. With Link's support and Vander and Jinx as her enforcers, anyone who crossed her ended up six feet under.
But even so, she never forgot her primary role—to prove her worth.
Of course, there were times when Miss Fortune couldn't help but grumble about Link in her heart.
For example: The boss is being inhuman again today. Why is his heart as hard as steel?
Sometimes, she even harbored her own dreams and goals.
Like: How about I take down this inhuman boss someday?
"Boss—"
The moment Miss Fortune pushed the door open, she saw Link packing his things and the oversized catfish standing nearby.
"Ta-Ta-Tahm!" Miss Fortune immediately drew her weapons. Tahm glanced at Link for guidance, and Link sighed.
"Relax, Sarah. Meet your new colleague."
"New colleague?" Miss Fortune's eyes darted between Link and Tahm, widening in disbelief. "Boss, don't tell me—"
"It's exactly what you're thinking," Link said, finishing his packing and gesturing for her to sit on the couch.
"Why did you call me here in such a hurry?" Miss Fortune sat down across from Link, tossing her fiery red hair over her shoulder. She shot him a sidelong glance. "Don't tell me you want me to help you write another plan."
"I'm leaving Bilgewater for a couple of days."
"What?!"
Miss Fortune's scream nearly blew the roof off, causing Tahm to look over. Link waved his hand, signaling Tahm to stay calm.
"Don't worry, I'll be back before the Harrowing."
"Where are you going?" Miss Fortune finally realized she might have overreacted. Link pulled out a set of armor and weapons he had prepared for her and placed them on the table.
"I'm heading back to Piltover, to my workshop, to make some weapons for the Harrowing."
"But the fastest ship from Bilgewater to Piltover takes three days. The Harrowing is only three or four days away. Will you make it in time?"
"Why do you think I tamed Tahm?"
As Link spoke, Tahm tipped his hat to Miss Fortune.
She stiffened, forcing a strained smile before quickly turning her attention back to Link.
"You're planning to use his power to get to Piltover?"
"Exactly. I'll use Tahm's ability to travel through rivers, allowing me to move quickly between the two cities."
"A few seconds to get to Piltover, use the workshop there, and produce a batch of weapons."
"Honestly, your current weapons are outdated and poorly made. If you want to prove you can control this city during the Harrowing, you'll need overwhelming firepower."
Link gestured to the armor and weapons. "This is what I've prepared for you. It's called the 'Armed Battle Maiden.'"
"The armor is powered by Hextech, equipped with an electric engine to give you superhuman strength."
"It has over eighteen miniature missile launchers for perfect firepower suppression."
"It also includes modules for high-altitude flight, hovering, low-altitude dashes, energy shields, and energy bursts."
Link pushed the armor case toward Miss Fortune. She stared at the case, which was no larger than an oak barrel, her lips trembling.
"And these two guns are Hextech-powered, with a maximum range of 1,200 meters. They can combine and overload for a high-explosive shot capable of sinking a ship like your Siren."
Link placed the gun case on top of the armor case.
Miss Fortune swallowed hard, her voice hoarse. "Boss, are you sure we're fighting the Harrowing and not the entire Noxian fleet?"
"Of course, it's for the Harrowing. The Noxian fleet wouldn't need something this small." Link patted the case, then remembered something. "Oh, and while I'm gone, I need you to consolidate all the factions in Bilgewater within a day."
"You've got the weapons and equipment here. Tahm, Fizz, and the others are at your disposal. I just need you to secure Bilgewater for me."
"Also, make sure all the bodies are burned, and the sea monsters at the docks are dealt with. Got it?"
"Understood, boss!"
Miss Fortune didn't even glance at the weapons. Instead, she bit her lip and looked at Link.
"Boss, I also have—"
"I don't want to hear it." Link's tone was firm. Miss Fortune was stunned, her face turning bright red.
"Alright, get to work. Push all those inappropriate thoughts out of your head."
"You're dismissed."
Link waved his hand. Miss Fortune's face cycled through shades of red and green before she finally gritted out a few words.
"Boss, I'll never give up!"
"Good for you." Link shrugged, watching as Miss Fortune stormed out.
Once she was gone, Link sighed.
I treat you as an employee, and you want to sleep with me? Miss Fortune, you've really let me down.
Piltover, Bluewind Estate.
In the lavender fields.
It was nearing the end of autumn, and the lavender fields were inevitably withering. Despite the gardeners' best efforts, many of the flowers had already begun to wilt.
A vortex appeared in the air, rippling with flowing water. A fat catfish leaped out, landing perfectly before opening its mouth and spitting out a figure.
Link stepped out of Tahm's mouth, disgusted by the sticky saliva covering him.
"You really need to brush your teeth, Tahm."
"I will!"
Tahm grinned at Link before jumping back into the vortex and disappearing. He felt a small sense of satisfaction—finally getting a little revenge.
Sensing Tahm's emotions, Link snorted. Next time I ride you, I'll make sure to leave a little 'gift.'
Just then, a whistling sound cut through the air. A blue glow illuminated the night, beautiful yet hiding a deadly edge.
Whoosh!
A grappling hook shot through the air, embedding itself in the ground near Link's feet. Dak'e followed, landing gracefully like a swallow in flight. Her movements were sharp and precise, devoid of any unnecessary flair.
She had been trained perfectly by Camille, even adopting her fighting style.
Seeing Dak'e in her Camille-inspired armor, Link raised an eyebrow.
"I've never seen you like this before."
Dak'e placed a hand on her hip, her leg blades folding up as she spoke. "There's a lot you don't know about me. If you want to hear more, we can find some time, and I'll tell you all about it."
"No thanks, I'm pressed for time."
Link shook off the sticky saliva. "Prepare a bath for me. After I clean up, I'm heading to the workshop to work in seclusion."
"Also, gather some supplies for me. I'll need them soon."
