How Sad is That?

Lt. Surge opened the door to the special training room in front of him and then placed his cell phone on the table next to the door in passing.

For the sake of that uneasy feeling he just had, he made it a point to stay away from his usual daily training place and joined Raichu in his special training room. This training room was to train and develop some electric techniques, and there was a certain amount of danger involved. Therefore, for safety reasons, electronic products cannot be brought near there.

That's the reason Lt. Surge found for not answering anyone's calls today.

I'm in training, you know. No cell phones!

While it's true that I don't think I've offended any of the gods lately, there's nothing wrong with being careful.

Let's just treat today as a day when all things are not appropriate.

Just as Lt. Surge gave himself credit for his resourcefulness, and started training with Raichu, and also with Electrode, who was already inside.

An authoritative and oppressive roar reached them from beyond the gym.

Lt. Surge's face instantly flinched, while both Electrode and Raichu beside him felt a tremendous amount of pressure, to the point that they both had the idea of kneeling down and bowing down on the spot.

Lt. Surge was very nervous now. His first thought was that he had seen scenes back when he was in the battlefield. Overlord-level Pokémon entered the city and unleashed their destructive greatness with impunity.

"Ominous thing should be here? Might as well let Sabrina beat me up then!"

Lt. Surge cursed, his face as black as the bottom of a pot as he walked quickly out of the training room.

Behind him, Raichu and Electrode followed suit, suppressing the panic within themselves; they didn't know exactly what they were up against, but they knew the responsibility they were carrying at the moment.

Lt. Surge walked out of the training room, and the first thing he saw was the many apprentices sitting on the floor and some Pokémon on their knees, which made him even more alarmed, the dominant Pokémon he had seen before hadn't left his people in such a sorry state, but now...

Lt. Surge's heart, which was already heavy, was clogged with another big stone. boulder.

"Get up! Each and every one of you has no backbone! You've all gone soft after being called out!"

Lt. Surge said with a cold and dark face.

One by one, the apprentices woke up like a dream. The roar had stopped, but there seemed to still be echoing in their ears, making people feel incomparably terrified.

"Everyone, do what you need to do! This is now a level one state of emergency! Everyone get ready to fight!" Lt. Surge said with a serious face.

"Yes! Colonel Lt. Surge!!!"

Some of the apprentices, or soldiers at the bottom all saluted Lt. Surge in unison.

While some of the other apprentices were all looking at these big brothers of theirs with a bewildered look on their faces. Not knowing how they suddenly switched roles.

"Apprentices all don't just stand there, hurry up and follow your team leader to do your part together!"

After saying that, Lt. Surge took a deep breath before turning his head towards the main door.

He usually trained these guys to deal with such unexpected situations.

Having gone to the battlefield, he knew better than anyone else. In a truly critical moment, it was certainly important to have a strong trainer as a leader and a soul. But what the more bewildered people needed more than anything else was a group of leaders who would lead them to escape from danger.

This is the fundamental purpose of Lt. Surge's training of these people.

He never felt sufficiently secure. This was true after coming down from the battlefield, it was true after quitting Team Rocket, and it was still true after actually coming back to the Alliance and becoming the guardian of a side of the city.

He was always ready for any kind of attack that might come his way.

The apprentices looked at their Gym Leader's back as he left, and those who didn't understand the situation still felt an inexplicable sadness of meaning.

"Gym Leader..."

An apprentice looked at Lt. Surge's back and tried to say something, but soon after, he was slapped on the head by his own team leader.

"What are you yelling about! Do your job! Our mission is to go out the back door and then clear the streets in the area of our home! Is that all clear!"

Obviously not a question...

The apprentice looked up at his fellow group members around him, suddenly realizing that the people around him didn't seem to live far from him...

No wonder the status and reputation of the gym apprentices in Vermillion City was so high, each and every one of them had a name and a reputation like a star.

No wonder the members of the group around him are all familiar with each other, most of them don't see each other, do more than just a few streets apart...

It's hard to believe that the leader of the group around him is obviously already so powerful, but already in the gym as if he were a nobody as the leader of the group of these people...

It turns out that all of them, all of them, are Gym Leader Lt. Surge's final servant for the city...

Gym Leader...

There were few smart people among the apprentices, and soon the place fell into a sad atmosphere. They didn't know exactly what kind of Pokémon was roaring outside, but it was easy enough to think about it; how could a Pokémon with such an imposing presence be a good match?

I'm afraid that once Gym Leader is gone this time...

They got into action, following their group leader as he prepared to make his way from the gym's backup pass to the outside of the gym, and then take the citizens to safety...

And then come back to back up their Gym Leader!

There is not a single coward in the Vermilion Gym!

And just as do everyone was silent and moving quickly, an apprentice frowned, going from a fast run to a jog to a walk until finally stopping.

"Something's not quite right..."

He frowned, clearly not caught up in this grief.

"What are you doing?"

The sudden appearance of a special person amongst a whole naturally drew the attention of others.

"The roar never came again, and there were no shrieks or explosions. It's as if nothing happened out there...strange, isn't it?"

He looked up with an odd expression on his face at the end of his statement, then asked in confusion.

One by one, the military-born team leaders raised their heads and looked at each other...

Seems like, that's the case haha...

And the apprentices froze...his words, they do make sense ah...

If it really came to a situation that required them to make an appearance, then the situation outside definitely shouldn't be so quiet ah... Should be so quiet ah...

The gym could have weakened the soundproofing function when it was built. So if there was really something going on outside, then they really shouldn't have been this quiet.

If it's this quiet, either they're all dead...or nothing happened at all...

But normally speaking, in this situation, it should be the latter...if it's the former, there's no reason why all of the gym's people would be alive... "Yo, Lt. Surge, your gym made such a big show to welcome me? Thank you! You're too kind!"

A bitchy voice came from the doorway of the gym.

The apprentices turned their heads together and looked over.

A young man with a young girl followed their Gym Leader in.

Gym Leader's face was clearly a little darker.

"What are all of you doing? Hurry up and go train! If you slack off again, double the amount of training for today, one by one!"

Lt. Surge looked at the dumbfounded expressions of the apprentices and roared with a face full of unhappiness.

"Oooooh..."

"Yes! Gym Leader..."

The apprentices, though they didn't know what was going on but still consciously started a chorus of agreement, and then went back to their own training. Going about their training...

It had been a pretty confusing day today. Inexplicably, I was surprised by someone. Inexplicably touched by his own Gym LeaderGym Leader, and then inexplicably driven back to training...

There are really a lot of ups and downs in life...

Three minutes ago...

Lt. Surge closed his eyes and took another deep breath before silently releasing all the sprites he had around his waist Magnezone, Jolteon, Electivire, Ampharos plus the ones that were already out there Electrode and Raichu.

This was Lt. Surge's main Pokémon. Facing the position in front of him, Lt. Surge had to be fully prepared.

With his nerves on edge, he didn't have the heart to think that much. That's why he didn't notice what was wrong here.

He opened his eyes and looked at the Pokémon around him, then nodded silently at them.

Then he flashed a wild grin, then jerked open the door!

"Come on! It doesn't matter what you are! I, Lt. Surge, will never take half a step back!"

Lt. Surge shouted with wildness and pride.

"Er... are you that combative???"

Rope asked suspiciously as he looked at Lt. Surge, who was a bit generous to the point of dying in front of him.

Lt. Surge was not right when he heard it, it was Rope's voice...

He fixed his mind, then looked ahead, Rope was looking at him with the girl beside him with a puzzled face, as if he was looking at some precious beast.

And on the other side of Rope, an Entei was looking at him with a similar look.

The others weren't looking at him, though. One by one, the crowd of onlookers had collapsed to the ground, including the young apprentice who had just been sparring with Rope.

He sat paralyzed on the ground, feeling the pressure of Entei's might, his two strands warring, wanting to leave but unable to get up.

And Rope and Whitley and Entei face owed him a second glance.

Since Lt. Surge had already come out, there was no need for them to make things difficult for a little guy. What's more, this little guy was originally just traveling his duties...

Lt. Surge looked at Rope, then at Entei, and finally at the little apprentice. Remembering what he had just been told. His mind raced, and in the space of a few heartbeats, he had brainstormed the basic events...

He opened his mouth, unsure of what to say...

Rope saw a group of Pokémon behind Lt. Surge, though the Pokémon were all in a blindfolded state right now as well.

"That doesn't look like you're welcoming me..."

Lt. Surge returned to his senses and looked at Rope, then while taking all the Pokémon back to the Pokéball, he said in a bad mood, "It's not like you're here to be a guest either you asshole!"

Rope walked towards Lt. Surge's side while skimming at him, "It's not because you're an asshole who doesn't answer the phone, doesn't reply to messages, and engages in some kind of closed-door cultivation, your family apprentice said that he can't disturb your cultivation, and he didn't go in to help me inform me even after I said I knew you, and told me to call you out on my own... "

Rope spread his hands, "Then I called out..."

Lt. Surge looked at Rope who was walking towards him and said, "He told you to call out in a normal way, okay? Gym isn't soundproofed, I can hear you if you yell my name through the door!"

"He didn't say so, how would I know?" Rope said helplessly.

"The little guy did the right thing, I did give the order, and if you really want to say there's a problem, it's more like half for you and half for me." Lt. Surge said this.

Obviously this was him defending the young apprentice.

Of course, Rope hadn't been thinking of giving him a hard time or anything. For one thing, Rope wasn't an atmospheric person, but that was only limited to people on the same level as himself, so there was no need to get angry at this kind of little guy.

What he did with it, as he put it, was Lt. Surge's own problem.

It was like the Celadon University student who had been expelled, or the young lord who had been brought into the Union Bureau of Investigation.

But Lt. Surge saw no problem with choosing to defend Rope. After all, the nature was different. The first two were looking for trouble, while the young apprentice was just doing his normal business.

So naturally Rope wouldn't bother to say anything more.

"Alright, don't say so much, I came to you, of course I came to challenge the gym. Hurry up, after the fight I still have to accompany my disciple to the beach."

Lt. Surge was also relieved to see that Rope didn't mean to pursue the matter any further before giving the young apprentice a hard stare.

"You guys want badges and use them for challenges? Can't I just send it to you?"

Lt. Surge was helpless as well, saying that he was about to pull something out of his own pocket.

Rope didn't even need to think about it to know that what this Lt. Surge guy was about to pull out was a badge.

In Lt. Surge's eyes, he had already recognized Rope, the badge not only has the meaning of examination, but also represents the recognition of the Gym Leader. If you beat the Dao Gym Leader, it was equivalent to completing the test, and the Dao Gym Leader would definitely give you the badge. This is the rule.

Even if you fail, you don't have to lose your badge.

As long as the Gym Leader recognizes a certain trait in you, then you can still get the badge.

So Rope doesn't really need to fight to get that badge. He's basically dealt with every Gym Leader he's ever met, and a badge is just a phone call away.

He can just sit at home and wait for all eight badges to be delivered to him.

Blue said he was going to put him through his paces, but if Rope really went up and asked for it, Blue wouldn't be denied.

Rope hurriedly pressed Lt. Surge's hand down and helplessly said, ''As you said, if I just wanted the badges, why would I need to go through so much trouble? I'm here to find you to fight against you and give the little ones practical combat experience."

Lt. Surge looked at Rope for a moment, still having a hard time accepting this researcher-turned-trainer guy.

Though he had known about it for a while as well.

He withdrew his hand from his pocket, then said, "Alright, since you want to fight, let's do it."
