Since returning to Brightvale, my mother had been showering me with gifts and treats. She'd constantly order clothes and accessories she thought would suit me, having them delivered to our home.

A decade ago, following her split from my father, she relocated to Brightvale to launch her own venture. The pain of not having me by her side remained a constant ache in her heart.

For years, she'd been urging me to join her in Brightvale. Now that I was here, she was eager to lavish me with everything she could, hoping to make amends for lost time.

"Mom, the past wasn't entirely your fault. I wasted many years on someone undeserving. You've already done more than enough for me," I assured her.

My mother's face was etched with worry. "I always thought that Clark boy would protect you, like before. I never imagined he'd turn out to be such a disappointment! Had I known his true nature, I would have convinced you to return much sooner!"
