I pressed my hand firmly against my mouth to suppress my weeping and turned to send a message home. [Mom, I'm ready to proceed with the arranged marriage.]
By chance, the day Ethan held his nuptials happened to coincide with the auspicious date I selected for my own marriage registration.
Upon seeing the photograph I shared announcing my matrimony, his complexion instantly drained of color.

"Ethan, please stop this hysterical behavior. Are you really willing to throw away our eight-year relationship so carelessly?" Ethan begged frantically.


I laughed bitterly. "Eight years together? Or was it, as your companion mentioned, just me being kept ignorant, used as a replacement?"


"Furthermore," I added, "Mr. Clark, let me inquire—who can confirm this supposed relationship we shared?"


Ethan's complexion drained completely. "You... you overheard everything back then...? Kate, I can clarify all of this! It was my stupidity in the past, not recognizing my true feelings!"


"But now, upon hearing about your engagement to another, I finally understood that you've always been the one who truly touched my heart!"


"It's just that when we first met, you were so young. I couldn't determine if my feelings for you were more than brotherly affection..."
