I gazed at Chris with complete disappointment. His once-attractive features now only evoked revulsion in me.
As Chris was about to speak, Sharon cut in, "Chris, my foot and face are aching. Could you see if there's any swelling? I'm concerned about tomorrow's work event."
Chris immediately shifted his focus to her.
Sharon took the chance to fall into Chris' embrace.
The forceful slap I'd given her left a visible mark on her pale cheek.
Sharon's eyes began to water.
Chris, visibly upset, tenderly dried her tears.
He used to be so caring towards me when we were younger. If I stumbled, he'd help me up.
And he'd wipe away my tears just like this.
I couldn't remember the last time he showed me any kindness.
Chris' eyes were now devoid of warmth, replaced by an icy stare. "Amber, say sorry to your sister."
I raised my head defiantly. "Never!"
Chris was taken aback by my boldness.
The moment he began to dislike me coincided with my growing feelings for him.
