Chris' expression, initially touched with remorse, transformed in an instant.
He positioned Sharon protectively behind him, regarding me with caution. "Amber, what's going on? She's your sister!"
I shot Sharon a fierce look. "You should be careful what you say."
Sharon, appearing wounded, implored, "Chris, don't let me cause problems between you two. If my sister refuses to acknowledge that Aaron is pretending to be sick, I'll leave it alone."
My forehead creased as I turned to Chris. "You believe Aaron is faking it as well?"
He remained quiet.
Glancing around, I noticed Aaron was absent.
In a composed voice, Chris inquired, "Where have you taken him this time?"
It was clear he doubted my words.

But he never came back.
I recall when Aaron realized his time was limited. He desired one final family excursion to Disneyland.
