Three years had passed, and after depleting my entire savings, I finally realized my dream of opening a quaint coffee shop on a bustling corner. The old wooden entrance creaked open, accompanied by the gentle tinkling of wind chimes. I warmly greeted the newcomer, "Hello there! What can I get for you today?"
However, my cheerful welcome was met with an uncomfortable silence.
Glancing up, I saw Glenn framed in the doorway, backlit by the sun. Beside him stood Adalynn, a face I instantly recognized. Glenn appeared taken aback, his hand tightly gripping the door handle.
Adalynn, wearing a faint smile, gently urged him inside. "Adriana, what a surprise to see you here," she remarked, sounding somewhat astonished. "We thought you might be avoiding us, given that we haven't crossed paths in years. We had no idea you'd moved to this area."
Her words carried a hint of theatrical embarrassment, as if she were performing in some forgotten play.
