chapter 6 Alex house

It's a weekend, Saturday with no school activities, just house chores and cooking of different meals.

Saturday has always been a cleaning day in Alex's home. Linda home too

Burno home was just another normal day, with no chores, just video games, movies, and all, as their housemaid always gets things done for them in the house.

The house cleaning had begun in Alex's house early., Alex's mom and dad had woken up. Alex has two little brothers from her stepdad and an elderly brother from her real dad.

Mrs Nora was Alex's mother, with four children, two each for different men. She left Alex's real dad when Alex was just five and her elder brother was 8, before getting married to Alex's stepdad.

Jimmy was Alex's elder brother's name, while the two little brothers were Richard and Ben, Richard was 5 and Ben was 3, Richard was older than Ben by two years 

Jimmy was already in the university, he was nineteen, and he became a million at the age of seventeen, which made the family impressed by him, as he was the firstborn.

Alex was the only girl among four children, which made it stressful a times, she was always overprotected and monitored and was never pampered as her mom believed mothers should be strict with daughters, especially the only daughter. That was how Alex's mother was raised when she was young.

Mr hank was Alex step father and the father of the two young boys, he was also divorced before meeting Alex's mom. With girl daughters from his ex-wife. He is also worth man, with a big mansion and four cars.

Alex came out of her room, Alex's room was direct, which made it easier for her to be monitored by her mom.

"Good morning Mom" Alex greeted as she walked to her mom's room and entered

"Morning, how was your night" Alex's mom replied as she lay on her bed 

"It was okay and yours?" Alex replied 

 "Alright, but please start cleaning the house now and do it as quickly as you can. Once you're done, we'll make breakfast for everyone," Alex's mom said, her tone firm but gentle.

"Okay, Mom," Alex replied, her voice tinged with reluctance. She felt a little overwhelmed, there was so much work she needed to get done.

Alex's house has six rooms with toilets and a bathroom in each, a big kitchen, and two guest toilets. She didn't know where to get started but after a few minutes of thinking, she decided to clean the rooms first with the toilet and bathroom in it. She started with Richard's room, then Ben's rooms, and did the other rooms. 

Already exhausted, Alex sank into the chair for a moment to rest, letting out a weary sigh. She closed her eyes briefly, wishing with all her heart that Monday would arrive quickly.

She stood up from the chair a few minutes later as she didn't want her mom to see her. She headed to the guest toilet to clean, and after up to 15mins she was done with the guest toilet.

The kitchen was the last room left, and Alex felt a small wave of relief knowing the cleaning would soon be over. She stepped inside and got to work, starting by tidying up the counters. Next, she scrubbed the cooker until it gleamed, then moved on to mopping the floor. Finally, she turned to the sink, where a daunting pile of dishes awaited her. With a sigh, she rolled up her sleeves and got started. She was done with the dishes, which took her about 20mins for her to get the dishes done. 

Alex went to her mom to let her know she was done and it was time to make breakfast for everyone.

"Mom, I'm done," Alex said 

"Okay, I will be down in a minute, get everything we need to make breakfast and hurry, your dad is starving" Alex's mom responded.

'Okay Mom, will do that" Alex replied 

Alex returned to the kitchen and carefully laid out everything needed to make breakfast. A few minutes later, her mom joined her, and together they began cooking. The process was slow, steady and stressful,taking about an hour and a half to prepare the meal.

Once the food was ready, Alex's mom plated it and served everyone. The kids gathered at the dining table, their chatter filling the air. Her mom took her plate upstairs to the sitting room, while her stepdad, as usual, ate in his office. He was almost always there, buried in work.

His office was conveniently close to his own room, a quiet space he seemed to prefer over the rest of the house.

Once everyone had finished eating, the plates were cleared and brought into the kitchen by Alex. Alex took it upon herself to collect her mom's and stepdad's plates as well.

"Please wash all the plates right away, and when you're done, go take a bath and get some rest. I'll handle bathing your brothers, so you don't need to worry about that," her mom said gently.

"Okay, Mom. Thank you," Alex replied with a tired but grateful smile.

She carried the plates into the kitchen, washed them all immediately, and then headed to her room. After a quick bath, she allowed herself to lie down and rest, savoring the brief moment of peace, while she began to this about the time spent with Mr max and finally fell asleep.

However,chores at Linda's house were far less chaotic. Linda was the third of four daughters, and responsibilities were shared evenly among them.

Oma, the eldest, was a twenty-year-old in her final year of university. Anna, the second daughter, was eighteen and waiting to gain admission into the university. Then there was Linda, sixteen years old, the same age as Alex. Finally, there was Ella, the youngest and most pampered of them all. As she is the baby of the family, she rarely had any responsibilities on her.

Weekends at Linda's home were always lively and yet organized. The girls all worked together, making the chores manageable, faster and leaving plenty of time for relaxation.

Meanwhile, Bruno, the only boy in the family, had little to worry about. Most of his day was spent glued to his video games, with the occasional break to write the notes he had missed in school.His room was always messy, but the housemaid cleaned it up regularly. Meals were served to him in his room, where he either played games or watched movies, undisturbed by the activity around him.
