With the countdown over, thousands of beasts poured into the room, their red glowing eyes emitting a ferocious glint. The beast, their size was like that of a well-fed dog but covered in a large amount of fur with their deadly claws, which were dark and sharp, covered in bits of flesh.

Immediately, they entered the room, and their gaze was fixed on the thousands of humans.

"Run! Get away from me!"

"Don't come close!"

The screams and voices of a few echoed loudly as the beasts started their onslaught. Blood flew over the air, limbs scattered everywhere with the sickening sound of bones getting crunched.

"What are we going to do?" Blake asked with a terrified expression. This was his first time seeing beasts, after all. The tales told and seeing them in life was an entirely different thing.

"Let's head to the back," Miriam said, pulling the trembling Blake. "The farther we are, the better our chance of survival!"

Sadly, they weren't the only ones that realised that. The panic turned chaotic as people scrambled to head to the back. Among the lot, there were quite a few who had decided to fight against the beasts.

"Don't panic! Everyone calm down! If we work together, we'll be able to survive this!" A red-haired guy with a bulky physique, taking the leadership role shouted loudly.

"With our abilities, we'll be able to hold them back!" Running forward with fist clenched, he swung his hands down, crushing the skull of one of the rat like creatures. The rat dissipated into particles, leaving behind a sword and a yellow orb of light that entered into the body of the guy.

Feeling energised, he roared loudly before charging towards the creatures. With each swing of his sword, he was able to easily take down the creatures in one strike.

Blake, seeing this, was left in awe. "He's strong!" He thought to himself. "Isn't it better we head towards them?" he said, stopping in his tracks. "They would be able to protect us if we stay behind them."

Looking around, Miriam couldn't help but agree. The panic had led to a stampede. They had only managed to stay alive due to the bulky guy before them.

"That's a great idea," the guy said. "I'll lead the way!" Running forward, he bulldozed his way through, heading towards the little group that had formed against the beasts. Miriam and Blake quickly followed behind, their hearts beating wildly.

"Arghhh! Beast! My leg!"

A beast broke through, quickly scanning. Blake saw a beast charging right at them it's trail filled with blood and flesh.

"C'mon, hurry up!" Blake exclaimed, running faster. The beast swift and nimble, had set eyes on him, and quickly covered the distance between both.

"Almost there!" He thought, staring at his back. His heart sank as the beast leapt towards him its deadly row of teeth in display.

"Arghhh!" Falling to the ground, Blake raised his hands, covering his face.

SPLATT!

A warm liquid fell on his hands, dripping onto his face. Ughh, dropping his hands and moving his head to the side, he could see the beast with a gaping hole on his head before finally dissipating into particles. Blake reeled back instantly and felt the urge to throw up but managed to hold himself.

"Are you going to remain there forever!" Hovering before him was a green haired guy with gauntlets. Stretching his hand, Blake held onto it and was pulled up.

"I made it," he thought with a smile. "Where's Mariam!" Turning around, he spotted her with a few figures. "Ugh, my head hurts."

"You decided to join us, right? I'm Bob," the green haired guy said, walking forward.

Quickly following behind, Blake stared at the ongoing chaos. The beast kept pouring in, their claws claiming tens of lives each minute.

"What's your ability?" Bob asked, increasing his pace.

"Degeneration. I don't think it's suited for battle," Blake muttered, gulping down.

"Degeneration? Haven't heard of that? So what can you do with it?"

"Huh? N-nothing, I haven't figured it out."

"Well, this is the best time to do so! Follow me! I'll assist you. For starters, ensure you've activated the ability."

"Yes," Blake said, scratching his head. "Hold on! Are we heading to the frontline!"

"A beast broke through the defence! Stop it!"

"That's our hunt! C'mon, let's go." Taking hold of Blake's hand, he pulled him along without glancing back.

"Shit! How do I activate the skill? What am I to do?" Following along, they finally came to a stop.

"The rats are just yellow-grade level one beasts. There's nothing to be afraid of. Let's see what your ability can do, I'll bring it down, and then you finish it off."

The beast lunging towards one of the fighters was caught by the tail. Twisting his waist, Bob swung down, slamming the beast to the ground. Pinning it down, he stared at Blake.

"C'mon, do something!" Bob exclaimed.

"I've activated it, but I don't feel anything!" Closing his eyes, he swung his hands down, expecting a change.

Tsk! "What are you waiting for! Shit!" Due to the distraction, the beast had sprang up right, breaking through the grip and lunge right at Blake.

"Arghhh!" Stretching his hand out, both collided on the ground with Blake underneath the beast. Holding onto the beast, maw, he struggled in keeping the row of teeth from snapping his neck.

Slowly, the beast grip began to weaken, and its injured head began bleeding profusely before falling to the ground.

A yellow light came out from the beast, entering into Blake's body.

"Ahhh," he exhaled, feeling an exhilarating sensation. "This feels great," he muttered. "Wait! I killed the beast? I killed the beast?! How?"

"But I didn't do anything!" Staring up, he saw Bob staring at him with a strange expression. "Were you able to level up?"

"Level up, no. I don't think so." Getting off the ground, he finally saw the long dark dagger on the floor.

"I think your power has to do with physical contact," Bob muttered. "The weapon is yours. Let's go help them out. I'm pretty sure we're gonna find out more."

Blake stretching his palms stared for a moment. "This... this feeling. I-I was able to kill a beast!" Clenching his fist, he quickly followed after Bob.

"We're going to the frontline. There's enough beast there to level up."

"Alright, I can do this!" Blake muttered, clenching his dagger tightly.
