Barak's eyes lit up, "Then why aren't you helping her?"
"She's too weak," Vlad uttered before sipping his tea.
Just then, his gaze fell on the two men who had been following Evelyn from the moment she bought bread. He tapped lightly on the tea cup, eyes narrowed slightly.
"Those two pests again. Should I get rid of them now?" Barak asked, feeling annoyed.
"No," he took another sip before adding, "She won't know the dangers if she's sheltered."
In another room, a group of barbarians hung around a table. The leader, a bald-headed, huge man with the most piercing, spoke as he watched Evelyn enter a healer's shop. "She's alone. Keep an eye on her."
…
Evelyn left the last healer's place, feeling disappointed and dejected. All the healers told her to forget about her beast, claiming it was dead and gone.
Standing outside the shop, she looked up at the night sky, holding back her tears.
