Get one more

"Give you something?"

Jamie still didn't get what he was implying.

"Yes, like the items, for example, the battery, the lighter, and the water gun."

Jamie realized something. Those items were from her space. She was not a fool. Even if it was a long shot, she could see the link. The link between her space and the superpowers.

The superpowers that were gone after she died, according to what Sawyer told her, were related to her space. It was not a crazy theory actually. Believable but just somewhat out of reality in context.

He kept watching her and he clearly noticed when it finally dawned on her. Something told Sawyer what she understood was not what he knew.

It was fine. He had all the time he needed to know more about her. Sawyer leaned back, allowing the breeze to dry his hair, waiting to see her final reaction. He wanted to know how she would deal with this issue.

Jamie was irritated. She wanted to ask Sawyer what he meant by broaching this subject with her now. He knew more than anyone did. But was he a friend? She remembered how he threatened her. He was acting all friendly now but that didn't mean he was not the same guy who threatened her, right?

"What's it to you? If I tell you the truth, what do you want to accomplish through this?"

Sawyer laughed. He had a hearty laugh. His chuckles before were all laced with danger before. Now he looked like a carefree person.

"I don't want anything. You gave me a power. What else do I want, huh?"

Jamie looked at him with doubt in her eyes. Was he that honest?

"I'm telling the truth. I don't have any plot against you. I just want you to know what abilities you have."

It was the real truth. Not something he was told to bluff her. He would scam others. But he wouldn't scam Jamie. He didn't want to lie to her. Maybe because she gave him two superpowers unknowingly.

Jamie didn't know if she should believe him.

"See, Jamie, if you really do possess this ability, you should think about how to use it. And how to keep it hidden. I can help you, don't you think so?"

"Then, what do you propose?"

"Simple. We give powers to people. And hope we don't help bad people. I think it's time the world gets messy."

They needed to talk. It wouldn't be okay if they just skimmed it. They should talk about all kinds of issues.

And giving people superpowers isn't necessarily a good thing. What if they used it for bad things? People were already doing bad things now and they didn't need superpowers for that.

"What exactly is your plan?"

"I want you to give powers randomly. I think it won't be random since the people you come in contact with will be mostly acquaintances. But I hope that the emergence of superpowers will catch the Leadership by surprise."

That meant he wanted a safe place in this world. Somewhere everyone could be happy and have equality. It was something that coincided with her vision too. She wanted to create a place that could rival Marc and Anna's kingdom. Only then they could fight properly. She wasn't naive to think that she could fight them by herself.

"Then why don't you just get your base? Easy to fight and easy to negotiate."

"Well, I do have that idea. But it will take time."

That was right. Time. They needed time.

Jamie shouldn't be surprised. But she was. He really wanted to go to war.

"And how does that weigh in when you are off fighting in the Guild Championship?"

"It doesn't. I can choose to not go in those championships. I need to get the Outer City in my hands. And then I can influence the Inner City."

"Why? What is your reason? I can't just believe you have a grudge or that you want to work for people."

"You won't take no as an answer if I refuse to tell you."

She rolled her eyes. This was supposed to be a serious conversation but somehow she felt they were talking about inconspicuous and irrelevant topics.

"My father wanted to kill my mother so he could get the power that came when your family has a leader. He didn't spare me. I want to take back everything from him. I want those leaders to see what the people are sacrificing for them."

Really? She didn't want to believe it.

"You are not telling me the whole truth. But your reason is a noble one. Sure, let's cooperate."

"You are naive, aren't you? You just cooperate with me for this reason? No more questions?"

She was going to regret this.

"I feel that I can trust you."

"Haha!"

He laughed so hard. There were tears in his eyes.

"This is the funniest thing I ever heard. You know, even Leo wouldn't say he trusts me actually. But now, I promise, I'll not break your trust. Thank you, Jamie."

Well, she was on his pirate ship before. Now she became his crew member.

"Okay, so what's the first step?"

"We get some people superpowers. And we get our team ready to fight."

"Okay, I think it's not me that chooses people and superpowers. It just happens sometimes. So, I can just check. It's based on trial and error method."

"I get it. Let's experiment."

"So, how about you give me one more power?"

Jamie wanted to roll her eyes at him. Was this easy? Getting superpowers wasn't that easy. And like she felt, the space would choose who would get what superpowers. He already had one.

There were people in the apocalypse who had multiple superpowers. And maybe he could be like them too.

"Here, take this."

She then randomly chose an object.

And dropped it on his outstretched palms.

Book?

Was he going to be a writer or a reader?
