Chose who? Me?

"You really think this will grant you power? It's just a book."

Sawyer checked the book thoroughly. It was a notebook. A blank notebook.

"What if writing in it harms someone?"

Jamie asked him.

"That is not a superpower. It's a dark magic thing then."

"You know dark magic?"

Sawyer nodded.

"It's something from the past, right? Like people used it to hurt others. I still can't believe it was true, how does it work, right?"

"It just works, I guess."

"Let me check the book, wait."

Sawyer looked at Jamie and smiled. Wolfish grin because it showed mischief.

"Give me a pen?"

Jamie sighed.

She dropped a pen before him.

"Huh, it's not a pen, what's this?"

It was a mechanical pencil. Purple colored mechanical pencil.

"These required graphite leads to writing."

She told him.

Sawyer clicked it and drew a circle.

The circle flew before him.

"Wow, it's a hologram! Oh my god. Wow. Thank you, Jamie."

He was happy like a kid with a beloved toy. Jamie watched him draw shapes and comical faces. He did have a talent for drawing.

"Do you have colored pencils?"

Jamie put all of the material before him.

"Enjoy!"

He went all out. He created so many paintings. It was fascinating to watch the scenery drawn on paper projects before them. It was still not exactly 3D though. He had to add some depth for that. Jamie didn't know how it all worked but she felt watching him draw was a nice pastime.

"You should hide this."

She yawned.

"Yeah, I can't let others know about this so they can steal from me."

Haha. People won't steal even if they know. Not everyone loved drawing and not everyone could draw. Art needs talent and hard work and the people now needed money more than anything so they probably wouldn't focus on him.

"But Jamie, what should I do when I fill up the book and my pencil stops working?"

She didn't know.

"I think you would figure it out. At this point in time, you know more about my powers than I do. And even if you don't solve the issue, I have more books and pencils for you to use. Don't worry."

She patted his head and got up to leave.

"Go sleep. Later, I'll take you to our operations team. Now they are the ones who you should meet."

Operations team? The team that handled his plans? His safe base occupying plan?

Whatever that may be, she was going to sleep now.

Jamie yawned and found her room. It wasn't a room as much as it was a partition. The treehouse had levels. And she was sleeping on the below level, there were only five rooms there. Her partition was in one room. Jamie wasn't worried because no one else was sharing the room with her.

Here Jamie fell asleep, and there, Sawyer was still experimenting with his newfound Holographic Drawing power. He had felt that some superpowers didn't need objects and some needed them. Like his fire superpower didn't need the lighter anymore. But his drawing power, worked only when he used the book and pencil from Jamie.

So, there were two kinds of superpowers they could acquire. Permanent power like the fire he had, was more or less related to him, so he didn't need auxiliary objects to use it. The temporary drawing power worked only when used on objects from the same source.

That showed that there was a source that was granting powers. And that source was with Jamie. It could be her space that had objects and the space was using those objects to grant superpowers.

In other words, Jamie was the one granting superpowers because she felt like giving them some help. And the space was helping her Gauge if the person was worthy.

It was a good mechanism actually.

That posed an even bigger question. How was he going to keep it under wraps? Jamie shouldn't be known for her superpower that was granting superpowers. She would be hunted then.

He was sure she would make those people miserable but he would like it even more if she could stay hidden and happy.

As happy she could be in their world.

They should discuss this soon.

He yawned and walked to his room.

He was sure the leader would be back and they had to have a meeting about the future actions of the guild soon. But now, he needed some rest.

Jamie felt like she was falling.

It was a normal occurrence when you transition from sleeping to awake state, she told herself.

Hey, where was this?

"I'm still sleeping."

"Uh, no?"

"Who is speaking?"

"I'm your space spirit! Yes!"

Well, she would have believed if there wasn't a "Yes" at the end.

"I don't believe you."

"Okay, I'm the magic consciousness. I am now bound with your space so that would make me your space spirit!"

Technically, yes!

"So, you came to talk to me in my dream?"

"No, you are awake, you are in your space!"

Oh, that meant this was all real.

And that meant-

"You are the one giving people superpowers left and right?"

Jamie exclaimed.

"No no no, it's totally you!"

Oh!

"Then, why are you bound to my space? Do you know that there were no superpowers because of this?"

"It's a complicated issue. Can I explain later?"

Jamie thought for a while and accepted it.

"Why do you talk to me now? Why not when I woke up? I could have not given superpowers foolishly."

"Because you gave all kinds of superpowers, knowingly, unknowingly, and invalid conditions too, I can speak to you now."

"Is this some kind of coding tutorial for a loop?"

"No, you just turned on my powers."

This was very confusing.

"Tell me from the beginning. Like you explain to toddlers!"

"You are not a toddler!"

"I meant, tell in detail and in an understandable format."

"Oh, okay! Because your body rejected alien DNA, the world protection mechanism got activated and your space absorbed its power. Without the World Consciousness helping people, there were no superpowers!"

"And what about now?"

"The World Consciousness chose you as a representative."

Jamie coughed.
